New York, NY based - (4 day in office, 1 day remote ideally)

Salary: $75-85k (exempt, based on exp.)

ROLE SUMMARY

The Agency is looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Payroll and Accounting Manager who can support financial and compliance management across the company. The Payroll and Accounting Manager is responsible for effectively processing the Agency's field and corporate bi-weekly payroll; and assisting in the accurate management of company books: accounts payable and receivable; daily financial entries and reconciliations; monthly financial reporting; general ledger entries; and record payments and adjustments. You will be working closely with a dynamic high performing team with responsibilities across accounting; tax; and state registration and compliance. You will play an essential role in establishing the foundation of their premier accounting function while collaborating across departments to ensure successful payroll and bookkeeping processes. Their team’s goal is to be scalable and sustainable, encouraging efficiency and effectiveness.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closings, as well as the reporting of operating results to management, liaising with business leaders to review / qualify results.
  • Assist with reconciling the company’s Weekly Transaction Report for all company accounts.
  • Ensure that all accounting transactions are processed accurately and in compliance with company and accounting standards.
  • Support development of annual operating budgets and forecasts.
  • Support preparation of forecasted revenue projection and targets; track company’s adherence to these targets.
  • Execute daily transaction reconciliation to bookkeep and monitor cash flow in real time.
  • Assist in the establishing general ledger and bookkeeping policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the planning, developing, and implementation of policies and audit procedures to ensure accurate and timely finance processes with an emphasis on payroll.
  • Manage the administration of payroll in compliance with FLSA wage and hour requirements on a bi-weekly basis for Corporate and Retail locations in multiple states via Payroll System.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact to research and resolve payroll, deductions and tax issues for field, corporate and placement employees.
  • Collaborate with the People Department to ensure compliance with accurate onboarding and payroll processing.
  • Support with compliance requirements, filing, reporting and audits; state sign ups, communications and garnishment forms; maintain all company records of financial transactions.
  • Assists with company strategic planning and special projects as required.

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • 6 years of relevant experience in Finance, Accounting, or CPA experience, preferably in a dynamic, high-growth environment.
  • Strong accounting foundation with deep knowledge and experience with accounting principles, practices, and procedures, including extensive GAAP experience (both bookkeeping and reporting).
  • Experience processing high volume, multi-state payroll.
  • Experience and excellent knowledge of multi-state US business filings and stipulations.
  • Knowledge of internal controls.
  • Experience managing tech system onboarding and migrations.
  • Superior command of Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, Paychex, and Paylocity.
  • Strong communication skills coupled with strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well under pressure to meet management deadlines and to adapt to changing priorities; at ease with complexity.
  • Exceptional organizational abilities, with strong attention to detail and excellent follow-up skills.
  • Must be authorized to work within the United State
