Procurement Specialist The Procurement Specialist has a critical role in helping to drive operational excellence across the supply chain. This individual directs the operational elements of Bed Bath & Beyond Inc.’s supply chain for fixtures and other indirect categories. The candidate must possess a strong understanding of the P2P cycle and planning process steps and be capable of troubleshooting process failures to ensure success of all projects and programs being supported. Responsibilities: Maintain responsibility for order management--- creation of new orders and maintenance of existing orders. Maintain responsibility for expediting critical and/or late purchased components to satisfy demand requirements. Help create and manage an effective and efficient communication and flow of purchase orders, deliveries of goods, while maintaining the appropriate “safety stock” in inventory to ensure optimal business operations. Collaborate with internal teams (I.T., finance, store planning, real estate, etc.) on process improvement initiatives that affect purchasing and vendor management workflow. Collaborate with internal customers to translate business needs into strategy and execution actions Maintain responsibility for the integrity of the data in the ERP system (Oracle) related to purchase orders. Track and report key operational and financial metrics with the goal of reducing expenses and improving effectiveness Manage the tracking, reporting, and communicating of the status of project/program metrics based on program needs and drive the development of corrective actions to address challenges. Identify and act on opportunities for improvement in the supply and demand planning process. Provide support to procurement category managers and contributes to resolving material issues/concerns in a timely and effective manner. Assist procurement category managers with the development of a forecast by SKU. May be called upon to assist with special projects and assume responsibility for the development, administration, and promotion of specific projects. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain/ logistics, operations, or engineering. 5 years of experience in operations, supply chain, forecasting and demand planning management. Preferred Qualifications and Characteristics: MBA or advanced degree preferred. Possesses organizational awareness and knowledge of business partner strategy. Is skilled in evaluating financial and operational information to help the business understand the results of past decisions or actions and the ability to anticipate needs based on current strategy. Has demonstrated ability to communicate complex topics clearly and concisely to peers and senior leadership. Has demonstrated ability to lead meetings to drive actions and accountability across cross-functional teams. Has an in-depth knowledge of and experience with forecasting processes and methodologies. Is highly analytical and metric driven. Thrives in a highly metric-focused driven environment. Is experienced in using lean, six sigma or other process improvement methodology.
