Digital Content Specialist – Entry Level

Beacon has an immediate opening for a Digital Content Specialist. In this entry-level role, you’ll be part of our growing Content Development team and will collaborate with a wide range of web development and marketing specialists to write and edit exceptional copy for a variety of clients, primarily in the higher education and multi-family real estate spaces.

The ideal candidate will have excellent writing skills, strong attention to detail, a willingness to learn new skills and take on new challenges, and a great amount of personal drive to be productive with minimal direction.

Our Digital Content Specialists:Perform analysis and deep-dive audits to form an understanding of the client’s target audiences, branding, existing content, and other relevant information to define website content needs.

  • Collaborate with the client, project managers and other members of the team to develop goal-oriented digital content strategies.
  • Participate in content creation projects, from ideation to execution, with a focus on writing and editing copy for web site pages.
  • Prepare documents and presentations for client and internal audiences.
  • Interact with clients, focus groups, and external subject matter experts to gather information necessary for the creation of content.
  • Take part in a variety of internal marketing projects, including writing and posting to social media.

What you need to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in English, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Excellent grammar and proven skill in written communication; be ready to share your clips or portfolio, and to create an original piece of content that shows your ability to effectively communicate about our standard topics.
  • Clear understanding of and interest in current web writing trends and best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO) writing.
  • A strong, creative point of view and willingness to share your ideas and insights to help bring a project to its best outcome.
  • Desire to deal with business issues, thinking beyond just content creation.
  • Experience working in small collaborative teams, including working constructively with designers and developers.
  • Self-motivated, positive personality with excellent interpersonal skills.

Great if you also have:

  • Experience working in Content Management Systems (Wordpress, Cascade, Modern Campus, etc.)
  • Background working with Higher Education clients
  • Proficiency and comfort writing content for social media.
