Overview

BEA Transit Technologies (BEA) is the manufacturer of ticket vending machines (TVMs) and fareboxes, which are used by passengers of the Pigeon Forge Mass Transit (PFMT) trolley system. There are two TVMs installed in the lobby of the main office of PFMT and one farebox installed on each of the trolleys used to transport passengers around the city of Pigeon Forge and surrounding areas. In addition, there are test devices for the TVM and for the farebox and other related equipment, such as a cash vault installed in other PFMT facilities.

BEA provides preventative maintenance and related technical support for all of equipment provided to PFMT. For a minimum of two years, these services will also include on-demand hardware troubleshooting, software configuration adjustments, and occasionally hardware replacement and, where feasible, minor repairs. PFMT operates seven days per week with hours varying by season but, in general, from 8 am to 11 pm ET. A portion of the required services must be performed during business hours for the agency but the specific service times can be adjusted as needed within that range of hours.

To perform these services, BEA intends to hire up to two individuals that will perform “Field Technician” services as 1099 contractors for the duration of BEA’s contract term. BEA will provide all necessary training and tools.

Responsibilities

• Performance of periodic (e.g., monthly) preventive maintenance
• Periodically check the operation and maintenance processes as for the equipment taking appropriate preventive and corrective actions.
• Manage and maintain all assigned company equipment, inventory, and tools.
• On-demand service for equipment trouble shooting and diagnosis, parts replacement, and parts repair.
• Provide onsite technical support to and assist PFMT personnel with equipment maintenance and operations
• Provide feedback on common equipment failures and recommend improvements to maintenance procedures and/or schedule to reduce or mitigate those failures.
• Create and maintain work orders in the company’s work order management application (“MaxPanda”).

Minimum Requirements for Field Technicians

• Knowledge of basic electricity; amperage, voltage and current.
• US work authorization
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Able to work independently
• Willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Able to analyze and resolve technical issues
• Availability, with advanced notice, during normal business hours, Monday through Friday for occasional, on-demand services
• Valid Tennessee driver’s license and transportation throughout the Pigeon Forge metropolitan area.

Preferred but not Required

• Fluent in spoken and written Spanish
• Experience in equipment servicing and installation
• Availability, with advanced notice, during nights, weekends, and holidays

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour
