About the Position: We are looking for a Branch Manager for our Chatsworth, CA Branch. The Branch Manager is responsible for the safe, profitable and efficient overall performance of the Branch, including Safety, Facilities, Inventory, Team Management, Freight, Fleet/Asset Management and Customer Service. The Branch Manager is expected to be a reliable and responsible partner for the sales team not only for the region but for the entire company. BayWa r.e. has many Strategic/Key Accounts that will need services from multiple locations, adding to the complexity of the service itself. This role works in close partnership with the sales team, Sales Manager, and reports to the Regional Manager.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Holds primary responsibility for the health and financial performance of the entire Branch. Ownership, not occupation, is the expectation. 
  • Manages the flow of product in and out of the Branch and supporting the sales process.
  • Participates in daily, weekly and monthly activities and meetings related to planning, forecasting and ordering with Sales and Supply Chain teams to ensure healthy inventory levels.
  • Particular emphasis and monitoring of excess and aging inventory is expected; keeping awareness high within the region and central support team of product that needs to be cleared, documented, recorded, etc.
  • Oversees efficient delivery service planning, choosing internal or external resources.
  • Maintains a relationship and awareness with company approved LTL/FTL Carriers.
  • Ensures the maximum return on investment, delivery optimization and utilization of company leased/owned vehicles.
  • Ensures company leased/owned delivery vehicles are properly maintained, serviced, operate in a safe manner and that all relevant documentation is in order.
  • Ensures company leased/owned forklifts and other warehouse tools/equipment are properly maintained, serviced and that all relevant documentation is in order.
  • Ensures that all Department of Transportation rules and documentation are properly followed.
  • Ensures that facilities are held to the highest standards of Brand and Customer presentation.
  • Maintains routine and regular maintenance activities and logs. 
  • Ensures that employee safety is Priority #1 and that the workplace culture promotes this. 
  • Oversees that all safety practices are being observed and properly executed, including all proper documentation, logs and employee participation. 
  • Demonstrates the ability to manage and lead people through change, maintaining a positive, motivational and enthusiastic environment even in adverse situations.
  • Hires and trains great people to support the branch.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Exceptional multi-tasking, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in interpersonal, presentation, listening, and negotiation skills.
  • High level of critical and analytical thinking.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter with excellent time management skills with a proven ability to prioritize and meet deadlines, adapt to changing schedules, and unpredictable events within a fast-paced environment.
  • Curious and creative thinker with a solutions-oriented, problem-solver mentality.
  • Strong and judicious decision-making skills.
  • Able to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Demonstrated strong performance in analytical, innovative, and critical thinking, strategy and collaboration.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, weight and volume.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in business or operations in a business-to-business sales environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ people management and leadership.
  • Demonstrated proficiency managing analytically rigorous initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to overcome obstacles and deliver key financial results.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and deep understanding of CRMs (preferably NetSuite or Salesforce).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is: 

  • Regularly required to sit, talk, use repetitive motion, type, and hear. 
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle and feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to bend, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, and reach overhead. 
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to drive a forklift.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
