POSITION SUMMARY
The Compliance Specialist is accountable for administering supports tasks related to the
compliance and quality programs. This position works under the direction of Compliance Officer
to perform audits and reviews, educational sessions, reporting and analysis, investigation support,
and other clerical support activities. This position is highly visible within the organization and
interacts with all employees. It is critical that the Compliance Specialist work well under deadlines
and meets required timeframes
This position is non-exempt that reports to the Compliance Officer.
Essential Functions
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the implementation of consistent application of compliance and qualities strategies
o Monitor and organize policies and procedure records
o Verify that all regulatory policies and procedures have been documented, implemented, and communicated
o Discuss emerging compliance issues to ensure that management and employees are informed about compliance reporting systems, policies, and practices
o Advise stakeholders on the implementation or operation of compliance programs
o Identify compliance issues that require follow-up or investigation
• Partner with Compliance Officer and other stakeholders to provide training to organization
o Help team members understand goals, process/procedures, and act as a resource to answer questions
o Provide information; Acting as point of contact for ongoing questions and inquiries
o Develop content and presentations
• Create and maintain documentation of compliance activities
o Enter and review incident reporting data
o Communicate stakeholder assignments
o Compile and store confidential records
o Retrieve and upload periodic report data while maintaining high accuracy, timeliness, and security of the data
• Serve as a confidential point of contact for employees to communicate with management, seek clarification on issues or dilemmas, or report irregularities
• Review or modify policies or operating guidelines to comply with changes to environmental standards or regulations
o Disseminate written policies and procedures related to compliance activities
o Prepare management reports regarding compliance operations and progress
• Conduct periodic internal reviews or audits to ensure that compliance procedures are followed
o Coordinate related audit deliverables
o Assist with compliance reviews
• Proactively maintain awareness and knowledge of best-practices and trends related to compliance and quality
• Act as the Safety Committee chair
o Coordinate meeting schedules
o Record notes
o Prepare agendas
o Relay information to committee members
• Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
• High School Diploma (required); Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred)
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in compliance or quality
• Valid Fingerprint Clearance Card (or ability to get one)
• Intermediate ability to write professionally and present information in a clear and concise manner via visual presentation or written report
• High level of attention to detail; able to edit, review, and modify documents appropriately
• Basic project management skills
• Strong ability to analyze data and information and then make conclusions or
recommendations
• Knowledge of HIPAA and related privacy regulations, practices, and standards
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
