Program Description...

BSCS’ FIRST Steps Together program supports parents of children under 5 (regardless of where the child/ren live), and/or expecting parents who are experiencing substance use/abuse/misuse who are looking for recovery supports, parenting skills, and a supportive, accepting, and non-judgmental community of recovery. 

What you will be doing to help others in their journey of recovery…

Understand and fully support the Recovery Coach Model

Provide service in a home-based or community-based setting

Provide care coordination, advocacy, parenting skills and support, and recovery coaching to Recoverees enrolled in the program

Participate in developing and implementing a parenting group that supports and promotes recovery

Work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of program and individuals

Maintaining strict confidentiality is a necessity in this position

Other duties assigned as necessary to maintain the program operations of the Recovery Center

Requirements

Credentials/Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED or above required
  • Lived experience in sustained recovery is required
  • Lived experience in parenting is required
  • Strong people focus and orientation
  • DPH-BSAS 5-day Recovery Coach Academy and additional trainings will be provided
  • Willing to pursue CARC certification
  • Ability to develop trusting relationships
  • Respects and advocates for all paths to recovery
  • Excellent organizational skills (oral and written) and the ability to excel at details, multi-tasking and working under pressure
  • Ability to multi-task and re-prioritize is a position requirement
  • Possess the ability to work in a face paced environment
