Located in Plymouth, MN, BDB provides comprehensive insight and management services throughout the construction process.

Position Summary

The President of BDB will be responsible for the operations of the organization in conjunction with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team. The President is ultimately responsible for the overall sustainable success of the company and the achievement of its short and long-term goals. Fundamental to the success of this position is a passion for developing and nurturing a strong team. The President is first and foremost a servant leader, a person people want to work with and learn from, who builds strong relationships, and has noticeable passion and energy.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Leadership

  • Proactively support BDB’s mission to provide an unmatched client experience. Live within and model the Company’s values.
  • Set long-range enterprise vision, strategy, and culture in collaboration with CEO and Executive Leadership Team. Provide vision, strategic acumen, transparent communication, and consistent execution.
  • Lead the development and implementation of short- and long-term strategies and annual business plans to achieve and exceed established performance goals.
  • Lead strategic growth, including organic growth and potential mergers & acquisitions.
  • Drive innovation to ensure opportunity pipeline.
  • Deliver consistent, predictable top and bottom-line results.
  • Develop quarterly advisory board agenda and related content in collaboration with CEO.

Operational and Financial Leadership

  • Review the Company’s P&L and balance sheet to achieve financial goals and drive operational efficiency and excellence. Balance short and long-term results among multiple stakeholders.
  • Manage portfolio ensuring businesses achieve full established growth, profit, and return on invested capital objectives.
  • Lead, oversee and direct Company-wide operations in alignment with strategic and financial goals.

People Leadership

  • Lead, develop, support, coach, and mentor a high-performing Executive Leadership Team that embraces high expectations, is results-oriented, collaborative, creative and promotes BDB’s Mission and Core Values.
  • Develop organizational talent to achieve long-range plan.
  • Foster culture of belonging where people come for a job and stay because they feel valued and have an opportunity to grow.
  • Establish accountability at all levels of the organization.
  • Ensure adherence to the Company’s core processes.
  • Embed servant leadership principles throughout the company.
  • Energize and motivate people at all levels of the organization. Communicate frequently with all team members and forge bonds with all people.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be a proactive and strategic business leader with superb business acumen, exceptional understanding of operational and financial strategies, and a familiarity with the construction industry. They will bring an entrepreneurial, opportunistic spirit to the role.

The successful candidate will be even keeled and resilient with a proven ability to handle pressure and manage through crises. The President will also be a mission-driven leader with a desire to actively and robustly support the philanthropic work that the Bauer team does in the community.

Professional Experience

Prior experiences and successes must include:

  • Strategic business leadership with a minimum of 15 years in progressive leadership and management roles.
  • Effective full P&L and operational management experience in a privately held construction or building products organization with similar scope and complexity ($200-250MM revenues) or similar-sized division of a larger entity. Experience working with an engaged owner is a plus.
  • History of developing actionable short- and long-term strategic plans, outlining metrics and managing to them to deliver measurable results.
  • Experience rapidly scaling a company, both organically and through acquisition while maintain engagement, morale, and profit.
  • Proven ability to evolve benefit programs, tools, systems, processes, and controls to drive operational excellence and support the future business growth and profitability of an organization.
  • Success articulating and communicating a long-term vision for an organization, engaging the organization in the vision, and ensuring strategies and resources are in place to deliver on the vision.
  • Dual ability to lead and execute/implement.
  • Strong customer orientation and familiarity with BDB’s customers and business associates.
  • A track record of fostering an organization to collaborate and work across functions.
  • A track record of prioritizing strategic human resources practices and employee engagement.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction or Business or a related field required.
