Strategic Account Manager I
Job Description

The Strategic Account Manager will report to the Manager, Strategic Accounts. Responsibilities include driving increased business from multi-site existing key accounts. The Strategic Account Manager will manage multiple accounts with the number varying by account size and activity. High-level responsibilities include establishing customer lifecycle management and creation of detailed account plans leading to meeting sales goals.

Job Responsibilities

  • Create account plans for each account responsible. The Strategic Account Manager is the main point of contact on their assigned accounts. Ensure the account plans are regularly maintained and actioned and tracked. Must be actively engaged in a consistent cadence with assigned accounts, developing relationships at all levels, remedying issues in a timely fashion, site visits, QBR’s and intermittent touch points. These activities need to track to Account level sales goals.
  • Track and coordinate sales activities that evolve from the account plan initiatives. Collaboration with the specific internal sales team(s) – SAE’s, FAE’s, Robotics, Consulting, Custom Automation, Customer Support, etc. on the respective projects. This will tie into specific sales goals from new systems, retrofits, maintenance/support/parts contracts, CNA’s, etc.
  • Have an understanding of new and existing automation technologies and applications, enabling the Strategic Account Manager to bring these technologies, process, ideas, etc. to their respective accounts.
  • Understand competitive landscape, market business trends, account expectations, and external threats to business. On-going research and networking are key components to being successful in these aspects.
  • Work with sales, marketing, consulting, corporate strategy, other functional groups and stakeholders within Bastian to provide customer and competitive landscape details.
  • Business related travel to company and customer sites - 25%

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • 1 years of account management experience
  • Engineering Degree Preferred
  • Demonstrate an understanding of automated material handling design considerations.
  • Ability to collaborate within a team environment both in-person and virtual
  • Ability to communicate to all levels in an organization with confidence
  • Outstanding listening, written and verbal communications skills, including strong presentation skills
  • Strong technical writing skills to clearly communicate analysis assumptions and results
  • Consistently provide excellent customer service
  • Team player who can also work independently
