Our company provides civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, environmental, geotechnical, and municipal engineering, surveying, landscape architecture, code enforcement, plan review, construction management, construction materials testing, and grant writing services to clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

Our busy M/E/P department is seeking a Mechanical Engineer or Designer with three or more years of experience in HVAC and/or Plumbing and Fire Protection design to work on a variety of projects, including: institutional, industrial, office, and multi-use properties; educational/higher education facilities; entertainment venues and hotels; healthcare facilities, and tenant fit-out projects. “Diverse” describes our portfolio!

Because our employees are usually involved in several projects at one time, involving numerous team members (such as project manager, engineer, and CADD technician/designer), exceptional communications skills and the ability to work well with others is essential.

Responsibilities:

• Learning and maintaining the drafting standards as established by the design team.
• Maintenance and storage of drawing files for active projects on servers.
• Work closely with project team and communicate with project managers.
• Prepare drawings and assists in design drafting. 
• Work to develop knowledge and skills necessary to participate in the design of MEP/FP systems.
• Coordinate drawing sets to ensure information is correct.
• Assist in site surveys as requested. 
• Performing HVAC load calculations.
• Designing HVAC and/or Plumbing and Fire Protection systems. 
• Making equipment selections.
• Preparation of project specifications.
• Assisting with preparation of project proposals, contracts, reports, and specifications.

Requirements

• B. S. in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering or Technical degree in drafting/design or related course work.
• One to five years’ experience in design of HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems.
• Fundamentals of Engineering/E.I.T. certification, a plus.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit MEP.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. 
• Knowledge/Understanding of LEED and Green Building practices a plus 
• Knowledge of the Building Codes, ASHRAE Standards and National Fire Protection Association Standards. 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivation and ability to work in office or remotely, as needed
• Communication skills are emphasized, as we need to work effectively as a team and relate to the client.
