Our long-term client relationship with NASA has led to a need for a Customer Support Specialist on the Human Space Flight Technical Integration (HSFTIC) contract at Johnson Space Center (Houston, TX).


HSFTIC supports multiple human spaceflight programs by providing products and services for mission and program technical integration activities. This includes the necessary infrastructure functions for the International Space Station (ISS), Orion and Gateway programs, with the potential for supporting additional human spaceflight programs or projects via task orders.

The Customer Support Specialist will:


  • Provide on-console and remote IT support during quiescent and complex/critical International Space Station (ISS) Mission Evaluation Room  (MER) operations (may involve short-term shift work).
  • Monitor the on-call MER IT phone and provide off-hours response and support.
  • Research and answer IT-related user questions.
  • Perform system administration on a variety of MER IT support resources, including account management, software configuration, data process maintenance, and other tasks.
  • Maintain procedures and documentation necessary for IT processes and issue resolution.
  • Review IT resource outage notices and distribute impacts to ISS MER community.
  • Maintain situational awareness of ISS MER operations and coordinate IT activities to accommodate support schedules.
  • Understand data restrictions to ensure proprietary and sensitive data are appropriately controlled and data transactions are monitored.
  • Actively participate in team projects.
  • Perform all other assigned duties.

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • BA/BS degree in the appropriate discipline from an accredited college or university, or any equivalent combination of education and experience in an Information Technology related field.

- OR -

  • BA/BS degree in the appropriate discipline from an accredited college or university, plus, five (5) years of IT experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience in an Information Technology related field.
  • Strong technical skills and ability to learn new environments and processes quickly.
  • Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills. Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely to customers and management.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and excellent follow-through skills.
  • Experience working individually and actively participating on integrated teams.



  • Knowledge of LAN traffic routing and DNS is a plus.
  • Experience supporting Windows and Linux operating systems is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Mission Control Center operations, the JSC network, and the groups responsible for administering their respective systems is a plus.

  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.

  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
  • This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed.
