What You'll Do: 

You will be owning the ongoing development of our Peerwell Android app available on Google Play. The app makes use of leading technology to improve the health journey of patients and workers suffering from musculoskeletal problems. That technology includes on-device custom machine learning AI, algorithms that make use of the phone's accelerometers and sensors, and AR technology. 

You will be collaborating with our Lead iOS Engineer to keep the Android version in sync with the iOS version. You will be driving decisions regarding codebase upgrades, new feature additions, application capabilities and design issues. Additionally, you will be responsible for working directly with the outsourced vendor to transition all mobile app development in-house.

In addition to the above, you will be responsible for: 

• Maintaining deployment and code aspects of the Android store 

• Managing our Firebase setup 

• Recommending opportunities to update and refactor code that enables build and design efficiency 

• Installing Tensorflow based ML models into the app 

• Solving critical development problems that get in the way of superior patient experiences. 

• Write great code. 

• Actively participate in our agile development process on a daily basis, collaborating with our web and backend developers as well as with our Product Owner, reviewing PRs, participating in agile ceremonies, etc. 

• Write Unit tests and other tests (Mock, Mockito, Espresso, Instrumentation) 

Must Haves: 

• 7 years of Android development experience using ARCore, Sensors (Accelerometer and Gyro), CameraX, Tensorflow framework 

• Experience designing, implementing and deploying complex applications 

• Experience with both Java & Kotlin programming languages 

• Proficient understanding of Git, CI/CD, unit & E2E testing 

• Experience with Firebase app configurations

• Experience with Google Play Store configuration and deployment 

• Familiarity with AWS S3 and AWS Cognito 

• Strong code architecture and organization skills including models beyond MVP (e.g. MVVM) 

• Experience with Dependency Injection frameworks such as Dagger 

• Experience building high quality interfaces with build tools such as Gradle, Bundles & Module Configurations 

• Experience with TDD or BDD test & quality practices

• Strong proficiency in Agile / Scrum methodologies 

Nice To Haves: 

• IOS development experience 

• Exposure to Javascript, Nodejs, AWS, Mongo/NoSQL, and SQL OR equivalents

• ReactJS and/or substantial SPA apps 

• Experience working on Jenkins pipelines or equivalent 

• Exposure to Kubernetes, Helm charts, Terraform, and a variety of AWS systems
