Position Summary: 

The Inventory Clerk performs all activities associated with the transfer of materials in and out of inventory. Locates, issues, and maintains all inventory materials. The position supports the Logistics and Warehouse management team. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, enjoys problem solving and is committed to the success of the team and Barber Nichols.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  1. Inventory management and assembly of physical goods located in multiple warehouse locations.
  • Monitor and validate all inventories, perform cycle count of all products and perform monthly short dated checks.
  • Identify and deliver various kitted parts for production and perform quality checks according to company policies and procedures.
  • Verify clerical computations against physical count of stock and adjust errors in computation or count or investigate and report reasons for discrepancies.
  • Pick and pull parts and material for assembly.
  • Ensure accurate and efficient transfers of parts and costs.

2. Enter transactions in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system regarding inventory levels and ensure complete accuracy.

  • Perform cycle counts and other inventory verification as required.
  • Pull parts and enter transactions to support assembly schedules. 
  • Navigate companywide computer systems to keep information accurate and consistent while being a resource to other employees for finding information. 

3. Maintain inventory storage locations to create a safe and upkept work environment in a manner that is safe and compliant with OSHA standards

  •  Loads, organizes, and maintains inventory storage/staging areas and racks.
  • Maintain work location in excellent condition to comply with company policies for safety and housekeeping while maintaining and organizing adequate shipping supplies.

4. Support other departments with necessary actions to close jobs. 

  • Work with program managers and production control to gather, reconcile, and disposition residual material at completion of jobs. 
  • Transfer dispositioned material to appropriate locations and complete the transactions in the ERP system.

5. Support Shipping and Receiving team as required.

  • Unload, receive, verify, stage, and document all incoming expense, project, inventory, and customer supplied materials.
  • Count and examine raw materials, supplies, finished product, etc. to verify completeness
  • Count and examine raw materials, supplies, finished product, etc. to verify completeness against appropriate documents; check for damaged materials; maintain records of shortages, damages and other exceptions.
  • Responsible for inspecting inbound shipments both in quantity and quality to ensure they are complete and in good condition prior to taking delivery.
  • Ensure packing slips match purchase orders and investigate discrepancies. 

Requirements

Qualifications:

To qualify for this position, an individual must possess the knowledge, training, experience and abilities required.

Education and Training

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Two years of inventory/receiving/warehouse experience.
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems and Microsoft Office products.
  • ISO/AS quality system experience desired.

Other:

  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Fork truck certification or ability to obtain one.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as required.

Required to speak and communicate clearly with others.
  • Mental demands: While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is required to read, write, analyze data and reports, exercise judgment, develop plans, procedures and goals, present information to others and work under pressure.
  • Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is exposed to high level of manufacturing and equipment noise. Duties are performed outdoors and indoors in a manufacturing environment with temperature changes. Exposure to hazardous materials, fumes, dust, odors, airborne particles and moving mechanical parts with vibration.
