We are seeking a Commercial Banker to provide professional commercial lending representation in our Illinois market region. Reporting to the Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Banking Officer, this role will serve as a primary contact and production-oriented lender, interacting with community banks with the purpose of loan and participation generation in all types of commercial lending. This role will also identify and develop interest to provide solutions through additional Bank products and services. Above all, helping community banks meet their customer needs as a partner, never a competitor, is priority number one.

Position Responsibilities:

Commercial Lending

  • Develop individual relationships with all levels of current and prospect market community banks.
  • Analyze and evaluate prospective borrowers' financial information, management quality, collateral, industry risk, and business viability.
  • Analyze and evaluate correspondent bank's ongoing strength and stability, including capacity to fulfill any agency, administrative or fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Screen commercial loan participation requests.
  • Participate and coordinate in the participation of commercial loans being sold.
  • Work with the analyst team to underwrite qualified, commercial loan request according to Bank policy and risk standards.
  • Evaluate loan pricing and structure relative to risk to maintain Bank standards.
  • Contribute to regular periodic portfolio review to identify changes in the credit quality, ensuring overall portfolio quality that meets or exceeds expectations.

Business Development

  • Maintain expert level knowledge of Bank products and services in order to meet customer needs.
  • First level advisor to correspondent banks in meeting needs and answering questions. Identify, qualify and refer additional opportunities with correspondent banks.
  • Independently schedule and make sales calls as well as teaming with make joint calls with colleagues within other business lines.
  • Work with bank management and independently to achieve customer calls, pipelines and product sales goals while ensuring timely and well-informed credit decisions, reporting, maintaining credit quality to meet individual and overall bank goals.

Ideal candidates will possess a bachelor degree in business, accounting, economics, finance, business administration or a related field, along with seven or more years of progressive experience in credit analysis, credit underwriting, portfolio management and commercial lending/relationship management. Middle market, commercial real estate, commercial and industrial, and agricultural lending experience required. Advanced, formal commercial credit training preferred.
