Job Description:

Planning Manager Job Description

The Planning Manager coordinates the development and ongoing management of the Parks Audit (coverage) and Resource (capacity) Plans across the Consumer, GWIM, and CFO business segments, and is also responsible for plan-related governance, reporting, and analysis.

Audit Planning responsibilities include supporting Plan development for each Parks business segment which includes leading risk calibration, assisting in determining risk-based coverage needs, and building analytics to support pro-forma coverage reporting to measure Plan risks and opportunities. Capacity Planning responsibilities include evaluating resources and proficiencies across the team, reviewing coverage plan staffing needs, and aligning the appropriate resources to each audit to optimize capacity. The Planning Manager will also helping drive out the department’s resourcing priorities which include delivering the annual Skills Assessment, analyzing results, and supporting the development of skills-related action plans across the Parks team.

This role works closely with the Parks leadership team to identify, manage, and report on ongoing coverage and capacity risks and opportunities. The position requires the individual to build effective partnerships with the Parks leadership team and across Corporate Audit. This role reports directly to the COO of the Parks Team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze risk assessments across processes and business segments to ensure appropriate risk calibration and overall segment ratings
  • Analyze audit plans to ensure coverage frequency is appropriate based on Inherent Risk Ratings and Control Effectiveness
  • Establish/Refine a framework which ensures governance and transparency into plan changes supported by risk-based rationale
  • Assess audit plan coverage needs and teammate proficiencies to ensure appropriate resource alignment to audit work
  • Optimize staff capacity across the Parks team - and division wide as necessary - to address short term and permanent placement needs
  • Understand teammate proficiencies and development needs/interests when aligning staff to audit work
  • Prepare/review coverage and capacity reporting and research Plan variances and key drivers
  • Evaluate proposed capacity alignment recommendations to assess viability and affirm or provide alternate recommendations as appropriate
  • Ensure coverage and resource scheduling infrastructure is efficient, can support timely impact analysis of plan changes, and ensure plan and resource schedule remains up to date and appropriately socialized
  • Support the annual skills assessment, provide analysis and reporting of results to identify skills gaps/needs, and monitor action plan development and progress

Essential Candidate Characteristics:

  • Expert understanding of Corporate Audit’s planning and execution framework and related tools/capabilities
  • Mature executive presence in a high visibility role, credible with senior CACR executives
  • Strong partnership and relationship building skills with ability to effectively challenge and influence
  • Effectively and efficiently coordinate, analyze, and iterate through complex resource scheduling dynamics
  • Demonstrate intellectual curiosity, exercise sound judgment, create an environment that challenges, encourages debate, and engages and influences across the organization
  • Knowledge of general bank policies, programs, procedures as well as the Bank of America Risk Framework
  • Comfortable executing in a dynamic environment and navigating the Enterprise to identify solutions or key subject matter expertise when needed

Desired Skillsets:

  • 5-10 years of experience in audit and with audit execution, coverage, and capacity planning
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and financial acumen, with a focus on attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and executive presence
  • Strong stakeholder and relationship management skills
  • Effectively influence and lead directly when dependent on partners to deliver
  • Proven ability to develop executive ready communications and presentations
  • Ability to effectively prioritize work, efficiently manage multiple deliverables, and deliver on tight deadlines
  • Strong desire to excel and execute in a dynamic environment
  • Expert level Microsoft Office skillset, particularly in Excel and Power Point
