Bangor Nursing & Rehab Center is Hiring a Staffing Scheduler Near Garland, ME

Job Type: Full time, (5) 8 hour shifts

Job Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00 am-4:00 pm

Job Summary

The Staffing Coordinator play a pivotal role in assuring that staffing levels support the master scheduling plan. This position works collaboratively with Nursing Administration to design and implement staffing strategies that provide our patients with excellent care while balancing the need to be cost effective.

Qualifications

2 year/Associate Degree

Demonstrated computer expertise, required

Essential skills include attention to detail and ability to generate reports/analyze data

Previous scheduling experience a definite asset

Responsibilities

Staffing Coordination

· Collaborates with Nursing Administration in developing a master scheduling plan that complies with regulating agencies and meets the needs of the facility

· Functions as an active member of the Staffing Strategies Task Force constantly seeking options to maximize ability to meet the master schedule in the most cost-effective manner possible

· Schedules nursing staff on all shifts according to master plan for staffing

· Prepares and posts unit schedules on each nursing unit and retains master work schedule

· Keeps work schedules current (schedules 4 weeks in advance using Excel Spreadsheet)

· Assesses variable unit census and acuity of patients when making assignments

· Assists Director/Clinical Coordinator/Supervisors in providing adequate number of nursing staff for all shifts through the development, preparation and maintenance of staffing schedules that meet the needs of the facility in a cost-effective manner

· Balances unit needs and employee and employee need in a sensitive and objective manner

· Coordinates on call and per diem staff scheduled and assures that staff meet agreed work obligations

· Other duties/projects as assigned

Customer Service

· Establishes good working relationship with employees, responding to their needs without compromising the level of service we deliver

· Informs unit of absences and finds replacements as necessary; adjects schedule to provide adequate coverage

· Assists in employee orientation by sharing information about scheduling practices, typical work schedules, work cycles, rotation, communication protocols, etc

· Provides employees with requested information on a timely basis

· May initially screen applicants

Information Management

· Demonstrates the ability to explore, master and apply available and emerging information technology tools to most effectively accomplish desired outcomes i.e. work processing, spreadsheets, databases, customized software, payroll software (UKG)

· Provides customers with ad hoc and regularly scheduled reports on a a timely basis

· Provides insightful analysis of information gathered and makes sound recommendations

· Identifies appropriate targets for further business technology applications

· Helps customers learn how to access and interpret information that is meaningful for decision making

· Generates reports, analyzes/identifies patterns of attendance issues and notifies appropriate Director/Clinical Coordinator/Supervisor

· Provides Payroll related information so that special payments (i.e. bonuses can be paid on a timely basis

Time and Attendance

· Inputs schedules in the UKG time and attendance system for employees

· Inputs Earned Time daily for absences

· Enters employee “punches” information for those requiring manual entry

Personal and Professional Development

· Attends and actively participates in meetings, workshops and applies acquired knowledge in work

· Assists in new staff orientation as assigned

· Attends 90% of departmental staff meetings and/or reads and signs off on minutes of meetings not attended

· Takes responsibility for determining learning needs and seeks out opportunities for such

· Participates in self-evaluation process

· Acts as a resource/may provide in-service education in qualified areas of expertise

· Demonstrates awareness of changes and advances in the field
