Ballast Research is Hiring a Talent Acquisition Manager Near Washington, DC

Ballast Research is a growing consulting, research, and data firm that helps government affairs professionals improve their advocacy to state and local policymakers. Ballast provides direct feedback from senior policymakers to government relations professionals, helping advocates make better use of policymakers' time and provide the resources most useful to those in government. 

The Role:

Ballast is seeking a Talent Acquisition Manager to help us achieve our growth and talent acquisition needs. The TA Manager will be responsible for sourcing qualified candidates, applying advanced interviewing techniques, and coordinating across several hiring processes. The manager will also provide HR support, including initiatives to improve and maintain a strong team experience and culture and the onboarding and offboarding of staff. We are looking for a highly adaptable and analytical candidate with a strong attention to detail and cross-team communication skills to join our growing team.

Responsibilities:

Talent Acquisition (80%)

  • Partner with Director of Human Resources to formulate and execute a recruiting strategy to meet Ballast’s growth and diversity goals
  • Coordinate Ballast’s interviewing and hiring processes, source qualified candidates via LinkedIn and other job sites, databases, networking etc., select and present qualified candidates to hiring teams
  • Help hiring teams interview candidates through various methods (e.g. structured interviews, behavioral interviews)
  • Support employee and manager growth, and establish best practices through trainings, and education
  • Help establish connections with professional groups, communities, and other organizations
  • Champion Ballast’s employer brand and create excellent candidate experiences
  • Build hiring materials and write job descriptions, ads, and social media 
  • Develop a deep understanding of the business to successfully execute complex sourcing strategies
  • Maintain accurate records utilizing Ballast’s applicant tracking system, and perform analysis related to hiring and employment trends

Staffing and People Experience (20%)

  • Partner with the Director of HR to hire and onboard exceptional talent to Ballast in a thoughtful, coordinated way that aligns with team needs and Ballast’s values
  • Facilitate the onboarding and offboarding processes, provide guidance and training on Ballast’s operational and employment-related policies and procedures
  • Assist in the planning and execution of team-wide initiatives to deepen and further Ballast’s commitment to offering an inclusive, equitable, and best-in-class corporate culture

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of talent acquisition and HR support experience
  • Proven success as a recruiter, including hands-on experience in the entire recruitment life cycle, tracking, analyzing, and reporting on recruiting, hiring, and diversity-related metrics and goals
  • Familiarity with recruiting and HRIS software (e.g. Applicant Tracking Systems) 
  • Knowledge of effective hiring practices (e.g. social media recruiting)
  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Professional services, research, or government affairs industry hiring experience is a plus
