Job Description
SCOPE OF POSITION
The VP, Quality & Performance Improvement is the primary leader responsible for creating and deploying strategy to achieve world-class performance across Ballad Health in the areas of Quality of Care (Clinical Effectiveness), Patient Safety, Infection Prevention, Accreditation, Data Collection, Validation, Reporting, Policy and Procedure, Process Management, Medical Staff Quality, and Business Excellence. Additionally, the CQO will be tasked with managing Certificate of Public Advantage (COPA) related affairs pertaining to the Quality & Safety metrics.
The VP shall facilitate the Quality & Safety Services Committee of the Ballad Board, and provide regular updates to Ballad leadership, boards, and others as appropriate. The VP will be a member of the THA and VHHA Quality Committees and will represent the organization on other state and national quality and safety task forces and initiatives. The VP is responsible for ensuring qualified staff members are in place to support the organization by hiring, developing, and retaining team members; as well as developing future quality leaders.
The VP is accountable to develop an annual Quality Plan, ensure data requirements are met for external reporting, lead the submission of state and national applications, implementation of improvement methodologies such as LEAN, process audits, and statistical process control, implement and enhance a formal patient safety program across the organization, ensure policies are compliant with regulatory requirements, provide procedures documentation that meets ISO standards, serve as a subject matter expert for Quality and generally supports achievement of organization goals and strategies. The CQO will work closely with Ballad Health’s Clinical Council and it’s various committees to help execute clinical/quality imperatives identified by the Clinical Council.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health or other related field strongly preferred. Minimum ten years of experience in healthcare and/or Quality required including a minimum of five years supervisory experience. Demonstrated history of accomplishment in Performance Improvement, Quality Assurance, analytics and other related fields. Strong preference will be given to professionals with clinical backgrounds as well as ability to work effectively in a highly matrixed complex organization
