The Role

AXS is seeking a Sr. Data Scientist to join our team in Downtown Los Angeles. This person will work on the exciting and challenging aspects of pricing, revenue management, and recommendation systems in the ticketing industry using statistical modeling and machine learning. You will gain hands on experience utilizing the rich set of ticketing data at AXS, building and deploying scalable data science models and tools. You will get to work with internal clients such as marketing and product on projects (e.g. events recommendations for fans), and external clients such as music and sports venues on projects (e.g. ticket price recommendation). You will also collaborate with a dynamic team, work with various business stakeholders and make strong business impacts.

What you’ll do

• Machine Learning Modeling and Deployment at Scale (70%) - Contribute to the full data science lifecycle from model design, development, deploying/building data pipelines, and evaluating alignment with business goals
• Project Management and Business Collaboration (15%) - Effectively collaborate with data scientists and business partners to communicate findings. Provide mentoring to junior data scientists and support the recruiting and hiring process for the data science team.
• Technical Exploration and Research (15%) - Explore key development in data science and machine learning tools and algorithms. Identify needs, explore relevant data, and develop applicable tools to drive business decision and strategy making at AXS

What we hope you'll bring 

• Continuous learning mindset
• Applied statistical, machine learning modeling, recommendation systems, and deployment experience (3 years)
• Proficiency using SQL and Python

Bonus points if you have 

• Cloud computing for machine learning is preferred (Databricks, AWS SageMaker, Azure ML Studio)
• BS, MS, or PhD (preferred) in a quantitative field, such as Econometrics, Statistics, Operations Research, Machine Learning, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, and other technical fields
• Strong communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
• Rigorous attention-to-detail, keen critical thinking skills, and pragmatic problem-solving mindset
