Job Summary and Opportunity

The Staff Accountant is responsible for being the liaison between payroll and accounting, including reporting all payroll journal entries, compiling, and reviewing with the entity’s monthly payroll packages. The Payroll Accountant is also responsible for RSU accounting including processing through external software (Equity Edge) and reconciliation of the Company’s stock, as well as ad-hoc accounting, internal control, regulatory/compliance research, and other special projects as directed by accounting management.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for maintaining and reconciling payroll related general ledgers and cash accounts
• Book and analyze various payroll journal entries
• Manage company restricted stock units within Equity Edge: grant awards, vesting, book related accounting entries
• Responsible for maintaining and reconciling equity related general ledgers and share counts
• Work closely with the payroll team on various projects and system updates with impact to accounting
• Prepare, generate, and maintaining payroll documentation including issuing and processing employee pay, commissions, and benefits, ensuring the accuracy of all information and adherence to government policies and guidelines
• Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing and accounting systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions
• Ability to document processes and identify efficiencies
• Supports and participates in internal and external audits
• Maintains strict confidentiality of sensitive information

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 2 years' payroll accounting, including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes 
• Involvement with accruals and recording of journal entries related to RSUs
• Experience with ADP or related Accounting or Payroll software (ADP, JDE, Workday, Oracle etc.)
• Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles and assimilation of new rules well as they change
• Understanding of general ledger systems and subsystems designed for banks
• Communicate effectively through presentations as well as written memos, policies, and process diagrams
• Ad-hoc projects
