Pay Range: Starting at $20.00 (Starting $17.50 locale differential $2.50 = $20.00) - $21.05 per hour (non-exempt - hourly) and considers preferred experience and preferred education described below.

Location: Crossroads at Grandview
Description of Responsibilities: The EMT will utilize their working knowledge to assess medical needs quickly, provide for basic medical needs, medical monitoring at the scene and during local or long-distance transports. EMT’s will support mobile crisis therapist where necessary and appropriate. EMT’s may be required to administer medications (behavioral control or not) as directed by medical director if credentialed appropriately. EMTs will assist with care coordination after evaluations with rapid linkage to treatment providers.

Physical Demands: Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand or kneel and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop. Must have ability to sit for longer periods at a computer. Employee must be able to travel between AHS locations. Possible potential exposure to communicable disease. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. AHS may make reasonable accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Physical Abilities: Vision sufficient to read medical records, instruments, documentation, and visual changes in patient condition. Hearing must be sufficient to interact with a patient who may be unable to speak at a normal voice level. Mobility (including lifting, bending, stooping, reaching) and dexterity sufficient to assist patients and handle required instruments.

Required Education and Experience:

Education: HS diploma or GED.

Minimum Certifications: EMT Basic
- Must be knowledgeable regarding patient health information and HIPAA compliance.

Must be organized and demonstrate the ability to follow guidelines.

Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Must demonstrate the ability to be self-directed.

Must demonstrate the ability to follow the organization’s confidentiality and security rules.
Required Skills:

Knowledge of EMS activities including triage, basic life support, and environmental conditions, auto external defibrillation
-
Must be able to assess medical needs quickly and distinguish physical and behavioral health symptoms.

A working knowledge of crisis intervention approaches and the applications to clients with emotional, behavioral, and substance abuse issues.
-
Knowledge of diverse issues including mental illness, co-occurring disorders, substance abuse, TBI, dementia and developmental disabilities.
-
Knowledge of community mental/physical health resources and their eligibility criteria and provide rapid linkage to treatment providers.
-
Ability to deliver services in various locations.
-
Must have a driver’s license and ability to be commercially insured and maintain a driver’s record that allows insurability with AHS commercial insurance agency.

Principles of comprehensive report preparation and narration.
-
Knowledge of medical terminology and appropriate utilization of EMT-B or EMT-I level skills for pre-hospital care.

Knowledge and understanding of pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations.

Principles of modern EMS prevention and education.
-
Good organizational skills and ability to work independently.

Ability to prioritize workload in a sometimes-hectic environment with frequent interruptions.

Skill in communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with patients, the public, co-workers, and supervisor(s) sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work directions.

Ability to operate standard office equipment including calculator, copy machine, fax, and multi-line telephone.

Communicate confidential information only as required to perform job responsibilities. Working knowledge of HIPAA and 42 CFR, Pt 2.

Working knowledge of involuntary mental health holds (2CCR 502-1.27-65), and alcohol and drug Emergency Commitments (EC) and Involuntary Commitments (IC).

Effectively and competently utilize appropriate computer systems as it relates to individual job, with working knowledge of Windows based computer applications to include MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and Internet access.

Ability to establish universal precautions and report potential exposure to a communicable disease immediately.

Travel required.

Ability to occasionally work beyond normally scheduled hours.

Ability to take on additional duties when necessary.
