JOB BRIEF

As a technical resource, the systems engineer will function in a team environment with Sales, Program Management, Project Management, and/or Engineering to provide technical assistance during the customer engagement cycle, NPI cycle and through full production. Sustained engineering and a resource for technical production escalation are key roles for the system engineer.

Guidance will come from The VP of the Business Unit, The VP of Operations, and Sr. Engineering.

ROLE OBJECTIVE

Provide support to both internal and external parties with a high level of professionalism and in a manner that reflects positively on the organization.

This role seeks a detailed-oriented team player that will assist in supporting system and production engineers in the development of computer test processes/methods and follow ISO processes.

This may include the development of test scripts for unit and system-level testing, updating work instructions for the assembly and testing of computer systems, and providing internal technical support to production engineers.

This role will also assist the Project Manager in pre-sales/engineering tasks needed to develop new sales opportunities.

KEY RESPONSBILITIES, include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Evaluates technical options and represents business requirements for the operational team.
• Develops the engineering schedule and prototype build plan in coordination with the NPI process.
• Proactively ensures the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
• Works directly with project/program managers, operations and quality teams to bring the product to mass production stage.
• Provide escalated support to production technicians during the assembly/test of Windows and Linux-based computer systems.
• Development of custom PERL scripts to automate the testing of computer hardware.
• Assist the Project Manager in developing new Windows and Linux-based scripts to exercise computer hardware.
• Assist the Project Manager in pre-sales related activities such as benchmarking, hardware test setup, and technical research.
• Interface with Axiomtek customers via email, phone, and on-site to support post-support technical questions.
• Monitors and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with design engineers to implement those resolutions.
• Enhances production build documents.
• Perform sustained engineering across a variety of customers on the production floor.
• Support, monitor and maintain production test utilities.
• Other duties related to technical support and project activities may be assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES:

• Development experience with and of the following: C#, PERL or Python.
• Very proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong working knowledge of Windows and Linux OS and Linux vi editor.
• Understanding of Windows and Linux Networking Setup.
• Declared major course of study in at least one of the following:
  • BS in Computer science
  • Information Technology
  • Computer Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering a plus

Additional technical competencies would be considered an asset:

• Familiarity with hardware concepts such as schematics, CAD models, DIO, CAN bus.
• Familiarity with Open standards like PCI Express, COM Express, Mini-ITX, and Supermicro Server platforms.
• Familiarity with computer applications such as SmartSheets, Jira, Microsoft Access, and Visio.
