SUMMARY. The Cook and Kitchen Coordinator (CKC) is a role model that performs duties and responsibilities for the client's safety, care and development. The CKC is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the kitchen and the service of meals to all clients. The CKCK ensures the health and safety of the clients by keeping the kitchen safe, clean and operational and by providing tasty nutritional meals according to the State and Federal guidelines. This position is supervised by a Client Care Manager.

WORK HOURS : This is a fulltime position with hours from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm shift

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • The Cook and Kitchen Coordinator (CKC) is supervised by a Client Care Manager
  • Adheres to all Avery's Village, LLC. Employee Policies and Procedures manual and the Operational Processes manual
  • Participate in the monthly staff and all required training
  • Oversee all operations of the kitchen according to state and health regulations, and Avery's Village guidelines
  • Cleans, sanitizes, and/or organizes the cleaning of all equipment.
  • Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by cleaning workstations, equipment, and utensils.
  • The CKC is responsible for maintaining the sanitation and upkeep of the Kitchen in accordance with state, federal or Avery's Village's guidelines
  • Daily preparation and delivery of 3 meals and two snacks for up to 45 clients according to schedules
  • Operates institutional cooking equipment, not limited to: ovens, toasters, mixers, steam cookers, food choppers with safety procedures.
  • Create a weekly menu for the meals and snacks that will also be used for maintaining stock, ordering and inventories for kitchen supplies, food supplies, non-food supplies, and food materials as needed
  • Control size of food portions, maintain quality of all food items and rotate inventories on a scheduled basis
  • Interpret and follow health department guidelines for food preparation, handling and storing raw materials, cooked food and non-food supplies, properly, placing a date open label on all opened items
  • Remove trash and clean kitchen area to maintain hygienic conditions
  • Operate and maintain all kitchen appliances and tools, in a safe and proper manner
  • Cook will be responsible for reviewing, maintaining and updating a current log of all food-related equipment utilized in the kitchen and refrigerator and freezer temperature
  • Cook is responsible for inspecting the facilities at the end of the shift for needed repairs and cleaning, and reporting any janitorial or maintenance services needed for said appliances, equipment or tools
  • Cook is responsible for reporting to the Director or Managers on staff any findings of, inappropriate use of equipment, misconduct from any person or violations to a safe and clean kitchen
  • Performs other duties assigned by the Managers, Directors or the Executive Director.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  1. Frequently move/lift between 25-50 pounds, depending on assignment requirements
  2. Perform all duties that may require sitting, kneeling, squatting and walking
  3. Manual dexterity and fine motor coordination

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Candidates must be at least 21 years of age or older
  2. High school diploma required
  3. One year of related experience as a cook and kitchen coordinator
  4. Able to successfully pass a state and federal background check
  5. Ability to pass a physical exam and TB

DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

  1. Current CPR/First Aid Certification
  2. Knowledgeable and sensitive in working with culturally diverse staff and clients
  3. Professionalism and good interpersonal skills
  4. Ability to prioritize tasks, exercise sound judgment and confidentiality with sensitive information
  5. Ability to establish effective working relationships with staff, community agencies, and consumers

OTHER POSITION ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  1. If required to operate a company vehicle during the course of employment, must possess a current state driver's license, have car insurance and have an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) yea
