Description

Job Overview

The part-time Director of Finance is responsible for compliance with all grants, federal, state, local and private, ensuring AVANCE San Antonio is in compliance and meets all deliverables. This is a temporary position with an expected end date of June 30th, 2023. This position requires an understanding of federal regulations to ensure AVANCE San Antonio policies and activities comply with regulations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Promotes and models the organizations Core Values.
  • Provides technical financial advice and knowledge to others within the finance department.
  • Evaluates the finance department structure and plans for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group, as well as provides individuals with professional and personal growth with emphasis on opportunities (where possible) of individuals.

Individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed below at a satisfactory level:

  • Assist in developing the agency fiscal year budget, to include federal program budgets adhering to grant requirements.
  • Assist with review of expense transactions as needed.
  • Train and provide ongoing technical assistance to finance staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

Required:

  • Bachelors degree in accounting, business, fiscal management, or related field.

Work Experience

Required:

  • Minimum of 3 years finance and/or accounting experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience with federal grants.
  • Previous supervisory experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with set deadlines/guidelines.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing work volume while maintaining high quality standards.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office computer applications.

Maintain emotional control under stress; work with interruptions and deadlines; walking, standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; occasional: lifting/carrying, pulling/pushing 10-30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Environmental Factors

Occasional exposure to biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.). Occasional exposure to weather related conditions when working in outside environment/neighborhoods and events.
