The Role

In this position, you will play an integral role in AvalonBay’s Learning and Development team, both in delivering and developing learning solutions. You will be expected to partner with business leaders to identify and prioritize learning and development needs. You will also design, develop/source, implement, and evaluate learning solutions to maximize associate performance. This is an individual contributor role with approximately 30% training delivery

This role is well suited to those who enjoy working on a variety of projects in a collaborative team with the following responsibilities:

  • Facilitate instructor led classroom training programs including, but not limited to: Customer Service, Sales, Management, Leadership, and Interviewing Skills. (virtual and in person)
  • Manage and support instructor led training programs (e.g., schedules, communication, production).
  • Consult with business clients on performance issues; conduct needs assessments and analyze learning needs related to business knowledge, management/leadership skills, interpersonal skills and professional skills (e.g., onboarding, presentation, writing, functional skills)
  • Design, develop/source, curate and implement blended learning solutions in a variety of delivery modes including online and instructor led training.
  • Partner with internal experts, external vendors and/or academic institutions to execute training strategies.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness to maintain quality and impact; recommend changes to clients and implement as needed.
  • Work with clients and colleagues to design appropriate systems to track training and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  • Support design and implementation of Human Resource and Learning and Development initiatives as needed.
  • Incorporate knowledge of industry trends and best practices in performance of job responsibilities.

You Have...

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Human Resource Development Business Administration/related area OR Bachelor’s degree in non-related area plus Certificate in Instructional Design.

Experience:

  • Three years of experience in Learning and Development including instructional design, delivery, consulting, and project management in a corporate environment OR five years of similar experience if no bachelor’s degree. Internal candidates with five years at the organization with some related experience will be considered.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of and ability in facilitation/training delivery techniques.
  • Demonstrates project management techniques and tools through track record of successfully managing multiple projects at the same time while meeting deadlines.
  • Builds relationships, influences, and works collaboratively at all levels of an organization.
  • Collects and analyzes data to effectively support performance improvement recommendations and solutions in project work.
  • Possesses knowledge of instructional design and development principles and ability to design and develop competency-based learning solutions to close gaps between current and desired skill levels.
  • Possesses basic knowledge of adult learning theory.
  • Reads and writes English as demonstrated by clear and concise written and verbal communications.
  • Experience in developing or managing onboarding programs a plus.
  • Ability to read, write and speak Spanish a plus.
