Summary:

 AutoZone’s SRE team is looking for a Systems Engineer specializing in SRE/DevOps. The team’s mission is to partner with engineering teams to define, measure, and improve the resiliency and reliability of our systems. We are looking for a new team member with experience with SRE and DevOps. Our environment is primarily distributed systems across 6000 stores, on-premise ‘above store’ applications, and a growing number of use cases in the public cloud. This role will be focused on the overall reliability and availability of AutoZone’s applications and infrastructure. 

Responsibilities:

Participate in any and potentially all roles of the systems development life cycle. Roles may vary by project and assignment. This may include, but not limited to:

• Implement architecture and design for release and deployment workflows, build systems, automation, and application lifecycle processes.
• Build, maintain, and manage DevOps tools and processes.
• Follow SRE best practices.
• Accurate work planning and execution.
• Gather and analyze metrics from both operating systems and applications to assist in performance tuning and fault finding
• Partner with development teams to improve services through rigorous testing and release procedures
• Participate in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning
• Create sustainable systems and services through automation and uplifts
• Balance feature development speed and reliability with well-defined service level objectives

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Information Technology or related field required
• Typically requires 2 to 5 years’ experience based on consistently demonstrated capabilities.
• Proficiency in Linux preferred.
• A proactive approach to spotting problems, areas for improvement, and performance bottlenecks
• Production experience with container orchestration, CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code, desired state configuration management, or similar DevOps/SRE tooling.
• Experience with tools/products such as: Ansible, Terraform, Cloud Foundry, Openshift, kubernetes, GKE/GCP, AWS, Azure, Elastic Stack, Jenkins, Concourse, BOSH, or similar DevOps Computing tools or products.
• Demonstrable experience in at least one programming language.
• Must have experience working on a collaborative team using version control, preferably git
• Strong problem solving, domain technical and analytical skills
