Automotive Credit Corporation is Hiring a Staff Accountant Near Southfield, MI

Job Summary

This position is responsible for handling multiple complex bank reconciliations, updating cash flow projections, measuring the variance of actual to projected financials, and new models for cash projections. This position also assists in the preparation of financial statements and month-end closing procedures. Responsibilities for this position also include assisting in documenting and monitoring of internal controls, as well as assists with audits and financial projects in support of organizational operations.

Essential Job Functions / Duties and Responsibilities

  • Handle complex bank account reconciliations on multiple bank accounts on a monthly basis
  • Submit, monitor and update daily cash flows and positive pay activity
  • Perform accounting functions as assigned including, but not limited to book, reconcile and report cash, cash applied to A/R, bad debt allowance
  • Post journal entries in Great Plains accounting software package
  • Assist in preparation of monthly management report and accompanying schedules, worksheets, and narratives, including “Budget” vs. “Actual” variance reports
  • Assist in providing follow-up and documentation of significant variances
  • Assist with preparation of month-end financial statements, cash flow statements, budgets
  • Update financial statement projection models against actual and perform variance analysis based on input from management
  • Assist in Profit and Loss Analysis – this involves the creation of profit and loss budgets setting of our expected future profits/losses for the business based on management input
  • Organize and track large quantities of data while maintaining an extremely high level of attention to detail
  • Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices
  • Assist in retrieving financial data and reports for collection activity/costs
  • Assist in compiling and testing of audit data pulls
  • Updating policies and procedures

Secondary job duties include: other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications:

  • Must have a degree in Accounting or Finance, or related field
  • Must have 2-5 years of experience in accounting / finance experience
  • Must have proven experience in the preparation of accounts through the general ledger
  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills
  • Must be proficient in MS Excel, MS Word
  • Microsoft Dynamics (Great Plains), Preferred Nortrige 
  • Must be motivated and a self starter
  • Must be detail oriented, and diligent in follow up and follow through
  • Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
  • Must have ability to manage projects and meet assigned deadlines and target dates
  • Must possess ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving and results
