Description

Summary:

Accountable for all production operations, shipping, receiving, material handling personnel (all referred to as “production” after this) activities in the plant to safely and effectively manufacture quality products to meet customer quality and delivery needs. Assures all company policies are followed by reporting personnel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following;

• Assure all activities in the plant are done safely and efficiently to produce quality product
• Assure all production resources are assigned per the schedule and used effectively each shift
• Assure production schedules are understood and followed accurately and timely to assure on time delivery
• Resolve daily production issues to maintain production uptime safely
• Assure all plant processes/personnel are following documented instructions and policies and good housekeeping practices are maintained throughout the shift
• Assure all production documents are completed correctly and timely, including job travelers, inspection sheets, nonconformance tags, time clock records, incident reports
• Work with quality and engineering to assure all manufactured products meet quality standards
• Document all nonconformances as they occur and notify quality and operations immediately
• Disposition all nonconformances if possible to maintain schedule compliance
• Notify maintenance of any equipment or building issues affecting production
• Notify engineering and/or quality of any issues with BOM, prints, processes, fit and/or function and any issues impacting quality or efficiency
• Review and correct any production personnel attendance or clocking errors
• Track and evaluate employee efficiencies and time utilization
• Coach, train, and evaluate employees to be sure they meet requirements and can perform as expected.
• Provide any and all support necessary for employees to be successful at their jobs
• Conduct any personnel improvement processes and/or necessary disciplinary action
• Other duties may be assigned

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

• Participate in interviewing and recommendation of new hires
• Assure building and grounds are secured at a known shut down period

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has supervisory responsibilities for all production employees working on the same shift as supervisor.

Education and/or Experience

Associate degree or 2 to 4 years in a leadership role in manufacturing in a fabrication setting. Above average analytical, leadership and reasoning abilities. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Ability to maintain calm under all circumstances and work in a positive mentoring role. Experience with Microsoft Office, and other software programs, including ERP/MRP systems is required.

Personal Protective Equipment 

The person performing this job function is required to wear safety glasses with side shields and safety shoes or foot protection at any time that they are performing any duties in the production area of the shop.
