Austin Hardware & Supply is Hiring a Human Resources Manager I Near Summit, MO

Austin Hardware & Supply, Inc.. is growing and in need of a Human Resources Manager I . This is a new role where you can be instrumental in building and organizing. You are responsible for all the daily functions of the Human Resources (HR) department, including recruiting assistance in hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.

We need a person who sees future problems to hedge against. Someone who will stand firm on company policies and procedures but can help see around the edges to soften them as needed. We want to see a person who is naturally driven to make things happen and possesses a high attention to detail.

This role does not formally manage anyone at this time but can grow into managing people in the future. Currently, you are managing our company's policies and procedures.

JOB DUTIES INCLUDE

  • Serves as the Company’s primary HR point of contact, working closely with the Sr. HR Consultant to implement HR strategy and immediately communicates claims/issues to the President and Sr. HR Consultant to ensure appropriate and timely resolution.
  • Works closely with department managers to develop and ensure a comprehensive and seamless onboarding process for new team members.
  • Makes suggestions and strives to enhance and improve employee goodwill.
  • Manages job requisitions for new and open positions and provides support to recruiter and department managers in recruiting, interviewing, and facilitating the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications, submitting results to President for review and approval for hiring, manages pre-adverse action/adverse action procedures, and/or notifies department managers regarding approval of candidates for hire.
  • Implements and conducts new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs, including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; terminations and related compliance; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Coordinates labor expense budgeting/forecasting with CFO and Corporate Controller (e.g., open positions, expected pay changes, etc.).
  • Manages employee leave and related policies and procedures
  • Manages employee benefits renewal process
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
