AssuredPartners is Hiring a Revenue Accounting Manager Near Orlando, FL

Overview

AssuredPartners is looking for a Revenue Accounting Manager who is highly motivated to learn and grow within the organization and has a proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multitask-oriented environment. The role reports directly to the Director of Revenue Accounting and is responsible for managing company’s compliance with financial reporting requirements, the annual audit process, and other technical accounting matters. The individual will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with internal controls over various aspects of the financial reporting process as well as technical accounting and financial reporting research. The Revenue Accounting Manager is also responsible for supervising, directing, developing, and coaching the Senior Revenue Accountant. This role also requires significant communication and collaboration with the other corporate-based accounting functional teams (platform, corporate, financial reporting & technical accounting), regional accounting teams, field operations, corporate-level functional areas (IT, internal audit, FP&A, treasury, legal, admin, transformation, etc.), and others.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the financial reporting process regarding ASC 606 revenue recognition
  • Reviews and ensures the timeliness, completeness, and accuracy of the ASC 606 calculations and corresponding journal entries to be recorded for each quarterly close, such that the consolidated financial results are presented in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP) 
  • Ensures the completeness and accuracy of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including (1) the reconciliation of ASC 605 to ASC 606 adjustments (2) the identification and explanation of actual vs. budgeted revenue variance, and (3) the preparation and accuracy of various financial management related reports.
  • Delivers the timely, complete, and accurate preparation of the revenue recognition footnote and related MD&A disclosures in connection with the quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements 
  • Designs, implements, and maintains effective internal controls to prevent or detect and correct potential misstatements in the ASC 606 reporting process 
  • Coordinates with external auditors to provide audit support related to the ASC 606 reporting process, including detailed calculations for ASC 606 adjustments, process narratives, control documentation, and technical accounting memos (with assistance from financial reporting & technical accounting team) defending management’s positions.
  • Analyzes trends in financial results at various levels of detail, investigates unusual or unexpected results, and provides leadership with meaningful interpretations that can be communicated to investors and board members 
  • Assists in preparation of the annual budgets. Assists FP&A team with monthly, quarterly, yearly ASC 606 revenue adjustment projections. 
  • Partners with M&A and post-merger integration teams to review revenue streams for newly acquired entities, ensuring ASC 606 revenue recognition for customer contracts are understood and align with business objectives while maintaining compliance with US GAAP 
  • Collaborates with cross-functional groups to facilitate the design and implementation of accounting related software
  • Constantly evaluating and assessing the revenue accounting related systems and recommending improvements to the Director of Revenue Accounting, where identified. 
  • Responsible for maintaining ASC 606 revenue accounting processes and policies. 
  • Assists in evaluating and assessing revenue accounting processes and policies and recommending improvements to the Director of Revenue Accounting, where identified. For those that are approved by the Director of Revenue Accounting; responsible for design, receiving buy-in, and implementation of revenue accounting processes and policies. 
  • Responsible for proactive communication and the identification and elimination of non-value added activities that improve the efficiency of the department. Responds to internal and external customer information requests in a timely and appropriate manner, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Oversees the installation and maintenance of accounting records. Maintain a well-organized financial data and document warehouse. 
  • Develop and maintain productive team-oriented relationships through individual contact and group meetings. 
  • Other duties as assigned 
  • Travel is expected to be 0-15% in this role, depending on the needs of the company and at the discretion of the Director of Revenue Accounting. 
  • Role must be based in the Company’s headquarters office in Orlando, Florida.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting is required. Master's degree is preferred. 
  • Certified Public Accountant or equivalent license 
  • 5 years of progressive responsibility and experience in comparable business, finance, or accounting roles 
  • Thorough understanding of US GAAP; specifically, ASC 606 
  • Former public accounting experience with Big 4 or mid-tier firms with at least 2 non-intern busy seasons of experience. SOX proficiency, IPO/SEC reporting experience is a plus. 
  • Must have great communication skills and work well in teams 
  • Ability to handle multiple, concurrent assignments. 
  • Ability to work with large and complex data sets 
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. 
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts, such as, probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts, such as, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. 
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge general ledger software; Database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
