Overview

Specialty, an Accretive Company, has an exciting career opportunity for an Accounting Assistant. The Accounting Assistant assists with reconciliations, processing vendor payments and data entry for purchase, accounting processes and month-end accounting. This is an excellent “new to accounting” role.

What You'll Do

  • Codes data for input to financial data processing system according to company procedures. Verifies and posts details of business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed, and totals accounts to ledgers or computer spreadsheets and databases. Keeps all company payables current, in balance and paid. Completes posting uploads. Audits invoices against purchase orders, researches discrepancies, and processes for payment.
  • Prepares vouchers, invoices, checks, account premiums, reports, and other records, and reviews for accuracy. Responsible for processing and approving finance agreements.
  • Reconciles general ledger accounts with various registers. Resolves all inter-company discrepancies.
  • Makes and posts deposits daily.
  • Assists client service staff in reconciling clients' accounts. Reconciles Producer report discrepancies and problems. Resolves premium discrepancies and adjusts commissions as needed.
  • Follows up on inaccurate transactions or missing documents.
  • Assists in streamlining and improving the accounts payable process.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of related experience required.
  • Associates degree, or working towards a bachelor's degree in related field, required.
  • Experience processing forms 1099 and W-9.
  • Tech savvy; must have intermediate skills in Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel; agency management system experience preferred.
  • Multitasking/organizational/time-management skills.
  • Strong math skills.
  • You have a great mix of analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • You are dependable as a team member and know when you can go above and beyond and take initiative.
  • You have a customer service mindset.
