Job Title: Senior Associate Director/Director of UAO Services, UVA Fund (Full-Time, Exempt role)

GENERAL SUMMARY:

This role will be hired in at a Senior Associate Director or Director level commensurate with experience. The primary responsibilities of this role include the delivery of financial management services to specific University of Virginia associated organizations (UAOs) that are clients of the UVA Fund. Working closely with the Director of the UVA Fund, the incumbent will be involved in strategic planning to identify opportunities to expand the UVA Fund as well as special projects, as requested. The UVA Fund serves the greater University of Virginia community. Our mission is to provide financial management options to help our clients enrich the University community. With around 2,400 active accounts, the UVA Fund provides efficient, quality service that reduces the administrative burden on clients, so they may focus on their mission and role at the University of Virginia. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Administer and maintain significant and various accounting processes and the control environment operations for multiple UAO clients

• Be the primary contact and relationship manager, provide direct interface and support service to clients

• Support all aspects of periodic internal financial reporting

• Coordinate audit fieldwork, financial statement and annual IRS information return preparation

• Report to client executive leadership and governing boards

• Administer and maintain client cash flow and budget forecasts for select UAO clients

• Initiate payables in online banking systems in support of UAO client operations

• Prepare standard and ad hoc reports

• Maintain schedules for allocation and reconciliation for investment and endowment fund accounting, integrate schedules into client budgets and forecasts

• Support investment decisions and reporting by working with clients, UVIMCO, Fidelity, and other investment managers

• Provide periodic analysis of donor pledge activity for clients

• Develop and maintain efficient and effective monthly review and posting processes for UAO clients

• Assist clients with review of gift and other contractual agreements

• Identify internal control weaknesses and areas for improved efficiency

• Research and coordinate with clients and co-workers to implement solutions where needed

• Work directly with clients to address specific needs or service requests

• Monitor level of effort ensuring client services are delivered per respective service agreements

• Develop new business and growth opportunities for the UVA Fund

• Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field is required

EXPERIENCE:

• 5 years of public accounting or significant accounting operations experience

• Financial statement preparation in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

• IRS Annual Information Return preparation (990 and 990-T)

• Experience in the not-for-profit business sector

• Knowledge of GAAP, FASB and IRS guidance, as well as efficient and effective accounting operation procedures

• Skilled in budgeting, preparing financial reports, computer applications, and data analytics

SKILLS/CERTIFICATIONS:

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CPA Candidate

• Business acumen

• Excellent client service and presentational speaking skills

• Must be able to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally, with a wide variety of collaborators, as a productive member of a large team

• Ability to plan proactively and be flexible to meet clients' needs

• Advanced proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, accounting and database management software

• The individual must learn to navigate the University of Virginia’s propriety donor database and SylogistMission, the Association’s accounting software package
