Job Summary and Responsibilities:

AIO and ASC are looking for a Pre-Op/Post-Op Registered Nurse to join our Surgery Center at a part-time status. Under the direction of the surgery center management team, the RN will be working alongside physicians in the PAC-U and operating room for the treatment of cataracts, laser vision correction, diseases of the cornea, retina and glaucoma. These tasks include, but are not limited to the following:

• Assume day-to-day assignments, congruent with their clinical skills and experience
• Good clinical judgment with critical thinking, analytical and problem solving abilities required as related to various aspects of patient care.
• Make sure pre/post-op area is clean, neat and stocked for the day’s needs.
• The Pre-Op/Post-Op Nurse will greet the patient upon arrival in the Pre-Op area and prepare them for their surgical procedure. 
• The Nurse will place the appropriate monitors in place, start the IV (when required)
• Assist the Anesthesia Provider with sedation and/or the eye block, and carefully monitor the patient thereafter
• After the surgical procedure, the Pre-Op/Post-Op Nurse will assure adequate recovery and discharge patients from the facility
• All other duties assigned by management

Skills and Qualifications:

• 1-2 years nursing experience in a surgery center or hospital environment
• Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast paced, changing environment
• Completion of a Registered Nurse Program approved by the State Board of Nursing is required.
• RN Licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is required
• Must be at least BLS certified
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with attention to detail
• Commitment to outstanding patient care

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience in an Ophthalmology Surgical Center
• OR/Pre-Op/PACU experience preferred
• BSN is preferred
• ACLS certification is preferred
• IV therapy experience preferred

Clearances Needed:

• Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance
• FBI Criminal Background Check
