Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

  • Obtains patient histories (chief complaint; present history; family history; history of allergies and medications)
  • Performs accurate ophthalmic procedures and testing (auto-refraction; visual acuity; measure and record glasses; tonometry; pupils; dilate; HRT; VF; pachymeter; corneal topography; OCT; B-scan; keratometry; confrontation fields; administering eye drops or ointments)
  • Maintains patient room and inventory of all patient care supplies (bulbs, film, VF paper)
  • Communicates with flow coordinator to facilitate proper patient flow
  • EMR administration and documentation

Job Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of similar experience within an ophthalmology practice is required
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification is preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be proficient with Windows-based applications
