The Role

Role purpose - Play an integral role in on-boarding, internal controls, close activities, and related management information on
the US Programs Operations team.

Key Accountabilities

  • Update and maintain US Program internal control walkthrough documentation
  • Ensure company, market, and client related documentation is issued (internally and externally) accurately and on time where applicable
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of US Program concepts; stay informed of professional standards and firm policies
  • Apply knowledge to moderately difficult/or complex client solutions
  • Compliance with best practice, regulatory/legal requirements and Aspen’s processes and policies including, but not limited to: Application of complaints and compliance breach procedures and Completion of all required advice and compliance training No legal or regulatory breaches
  • Liaise with internal and external clients to ensure the proper reporting of monthly premium and loss activity.
  • Liaise with relevant and associated areas and groups within the business process to establish, support and maintain business relationships and organizational effectiveness
  • Research business and industry trends to develop a point of view to leverage in assisting with proposals, considering opportunities across multiple lines of service
  • Responsible for the completion the US Program and claims handling TPA bordereaux uploads/monthly close process
  • Ensuring timely and accurate resolution of reconciling items in line with the Finance close schedule
  • Complete monthly US Program premium and loss bordereaux reconciliations ensuring that all reconciling items are properly documented and supported
  • Complete monthly US Program commission reconciliations properly investigating all variances above scope.
  • Complete quarterly US Program data quality testing on legacy system business, to ensure compliance with Aspen’s internal controls and procedures
  • Provide IT and US Program Operations with timely ad-hoc data requests, in line with the respective requirements.
  • Assist in upload of historical premium and loss bordereaux at the time of automation
  • All reporting requirements and SLAs (deadlines, accuracy, service quality, relevance, completeness) met
  • Evidence of self-audit validation
  • Compliance and application of required legislation, standards, codes, and policies
  • Actively coaches and develop more junior/less experienced team members and offshore resources

Skills & Experience

  • At least 2 years of experience in a P&C insurance company or public accounting
  • Substantial knowledge in Accounting, Finance, Risk Management, Business or other related field.
  • Working towards / completed Certified Public Accountant or MBA preferred.
  • Substantial knowledge in reporting with an ability to interpret specifications for IT preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.
  • Ability and comfort level in researching inquiries and emerging issues, including regulations, industry practices, and new
  • technologies.
  • Highly proficient in MS systems such as Excel
  • Good analytical skills
  • A high level of numeracy and literacy
  • Attention to detail
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to manage priorities to meet strict deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Teamwork – able to collaborate and work flexibly with others
  • Ability to work independently and autonomously with minimal supervision
  • Consolidation and compilation support.
  • Financial statement close process support.
  • Audit remediation and readiness
