JOB TITLE: Assistant Director of Nursing

EMPLOYER: Twelfth One, LLC dba Aspen Infusion

DEPARTMENT: Nursing

REPORTS TO: Director of Nursing

SUMMARY: The Assistant Director of Nursing is responsible for supervising and evaluating clinical services to patients referred to the company.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise, directly or through qualified subordinates, all personnel who provide infusion nursing patient care, in the absence of the Director of Nursing.
  • Ensure that the professional standards of community nursing practice are maintained by all nurses providing care.
  • Maintain and adhere to agency procedure and patient care policy manuals.
  • Establish service policies and procedures in compliance with state health statutes and administrative rules, including CDC and OSHA guidelines for safety, standard precautions, and infection control procedures.
  • Employ and evaluate infusion nursing personnel. • Coordinate patient care services.
  • Set or adopt policies for, and keep records of criteria for admission to service, case assignments, and case management.
  • Perform infusion nursing duties as needed
  • Represent the pharmacy in a professional and courteous manner in all interactions with patients.
  • Communicate patient information necessary to schedule services.
  • Determine correct resolution to patient complaints; take corrective action, and monitor results.
  • Prepare and secure medical necessity documentation.
  • Establish and maintain patient records.
  • Communicate with the billing department to ensure proper billing to insurance companies, contracts, other third-party payers, and patients for all products and services delivered; maintain accurate billing records.
  • Participate in surveys conducted by authorized inspection agencies.
  • Participate in the Performance Improvement program as requested by the Performance Improvement Coordinator.
  • Participate in committees when requested and implement clinical programs as assigned.
  • Pursue continuing education programs appropriate to job responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Indirectly supervises the nursing staff within the nursing department.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and current RN state license.
  • Effective interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills in speaking and writing.
  • Organizational skills sufficient to maintain consistently accurate records.
  • Ability to recognize and direct information to the appropriate health care provider.
  • Computer skills that include word processing, and efficient use of the internet and e-mail.
  • Insurance reimbursement knowledge and health insurance billing experience.
  • Two years of experience in infusion nursing and at least one year of supervisory experience are preferred.
  • Current CPR card, health certificate, valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, automobile insurance.

Problem Solving - Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem-solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Continually required to stand, walk and sit
  • Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity
  • Continually required to talk or hear
  • Frequently work around fumes, airborne particles, or toxic chemicals
  • Frequent exposure to outside weather conditions
  • Frequently exposure to bloodborne and airborne pathogens or infectious materials
  • The employee must occasionally lift and /or move less than 30 pounds
