Ashe Memorial Hospital is Hiring an Office Coordinator (Fleetwood Family Medicine) (FT) Near Jefferson, NC

Must be willing to receive all required vaccinations (i.e., flu shot, etc.). All new employees working must be fully vaccinated as a condition of employment (unless the new hire has requested and received an exemption). Candidates for employment will be notified of this policy requirement prior to the start of employment. After receiving an offer of employment, new employees must provide proof of vaccination or request and receive an exemption before beginning work.

Position Summary: Responsible for checking in and out patients with responsibilities generally including obtaining necessary personal and financial data. Posts payments received, prepares deposits and balances records. Answers phone and schedules appointments. Must display appropriate customer service skills at all times.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience: Prior medical office experience preferred.

License/Certifications: None.

Language Skills: Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.

Other Skills:

  • Proficient in operating a computer.
  • Knowledgeable in skills of patient/guest relations.

Expected Hours of Work: Monday through Friday, general business hours. Forty (40) hours per week. Evening and weekend if necessary.

Personal Protective Equipment: Must be able and willing to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Travel: None.

Additional Minimum Employment Requirements:

  • Annual Health & Safety Inservice (commonly referred to as “ADI”).
  • Back Safety/Body Mechanics.
  • Annual Employee Health Screening.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Coordinates operations of front office.
  2. Greets patients in a warm manner.
  3. Scanning into patient charts (electronic medical record), answers telephone, transferring calls and or taking accurate messages.
  4. Schedules & cancels appointments and makes referral appointments.
  5. Checks in & out patients, help patients to complete necessary registration and insurance information to make chart.
  6. Accurately post charges and payments.
  7. Balances cash drawer according to AMH procedures.
  8. Schedules & cancels patients.
  9. Take outside orders to AMH Medical Records to be scanned.
  10. Demonstrates good verbal and written communication and telephone skills.
  11. Abide by policies and procedures of AMH.
  12. Assist with other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to work under the pressure of stressful situations.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods working on computer and telephone.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
  • General indoor conditions.
  • Noise: quiet to light noise.
  • Repetitive motion actions: greater than 6 hours with both hands.
  • Visual and hearing ability for communication activities and to maintain cleanliness and safety.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills necessary for job requirements.

Occupational Hazards

  • Potential for musculoskeletal injuries if proper lifting and carrying techniques are not used.
