Our team is looking for an Oral Myofunctional Specialist!

We are growing and our busy advanced pediatric dental practice would love to add talented, energized, and educated members to our team!

We are an advanced pediatric dental practice seeking a part-time Myofunctional Specialist who will be responsible for assessing tongue function, Temporomandibular Dysfunction, poor oral habit patterns, such as mouth breathing, tongue thrust, and thumb-sucking. The successful candidate will teach behavior modification techniques and various facial and tongue exercises to promote proper tongue position and improved breathing, swallowing, and chewing. The Myofunctional Specialist will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients with myofunctional disorders. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in the anatomy and physiology of the head, neck, and mouth, and experienced in providing treatment plans that help improve speech, swallowing, and breathing.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to diagnose patients with myofunctional disorders
  • Develop and implement treatment plans that target patient-specific myofunctional issues
  • Provide therapy sessions for patients that incorporate exercises and interventions to strengthen facial muscles and improve tongue posture, swallowing, and breathing patterns
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly
  • Communicate and coordinate with other healthcare providers, such as dentists, orthodontists, and speech therapists, to ensure comprehensive care for patients
  • Document patient progress and maintain accurate records in patient files
  • Attend professional development workshops and conferences to stay up-to-date on the latest techniques and treatment options in the field of myofunctional therapy
  • Engage in community outreach to other healthcare providers
  • Maintain knowledge base of procedures and regulations as well as professional standards through attendance at workshops, in-services, and individual research and reading

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in speech therapy, dental hygiene, or a related field
  • Certification in Myofunctional Therapy
  • Strong knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the head, neck, and mouth
  • Experience in evaluating and treating patients with myofunctional disorders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with patients and other healthcare providers
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed
