The Ascension St. Vincent Adult and Pediatric Burn Center is a dedicated burn care facility in Indiana, located near our Level 1 adult and pediatric trauma center. In addition to burn injuries, the Burn Center treats those with slow-healing wounds and conditions that result in the loss of skin. Hydrotherapy and physical therapy is also offered in the burn unit.

Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

Responsibilities:

• Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Indiana Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required.

The Ascension St. Vincent Adult and Pediatric Burn Center is a dedicated burn care facility in Indiana, located near our Level 1 adult and pediatric trauma center.

In addition to burn injuries, the Burn Center treats those with slow-healing wounds and conditions that result in the loss of skin. All rooms are private, so you can rest and recover in a space that is comfortable. Hydrotherapy and physical therapy is also offered in the burn unit.

Services include treatment for:

• Thermal burns (flame, scald, contact, steam)
• Chemical burns
• Electrical injuries, including lightning
• Inhalation injuries
• Frostbite
• Necrotizing fasciitis and other soft tissue infections
• Complex wounds, including Steven Johnson’s Syndrome, pressure injuries, and deglovings.

An Outpatient Clinic located near Ascension St. Vincent Indianapolis allows for treatment of minor burn injuries not requiring an inpatient stay. Same-day appointments are available. The Burn Clinic provides follow-up care and can connect you with other specialists as needed.

Our care team includes specialists in burn and critical care, nurses, patient care technicians, social workers, case managers, chaplains, dietitians and therapists. We work with our patients to make sure all their needs are met -- physically and emotionally. For children, we have child life specialists and providers specializing in the emotional needs of children.
