Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Westlawn Hospital is Tennessee’s first small format

neighborhood facility! By utilizing this concept, patients will experience 24/7 access to inpatient and emergency care. With eight inpatient beds, eight emergency department rooms, radiology, microbiology lab, pharmacy, dietary services, and diagnostic imaging (digital x-ray, ultrasound and a 64-slice CT), Westlawn can provide convenient and accessible care to patients who are experiencing lower acuity illness. 

Would you be open to a new opportunity if it allowed for professional advancement? Westlawn is currently hiring for experienced Emergency Department Nurses who are ready to work in a small, team oriented environment.

In this position, one can expect to see patients that have, but are not limited to: Acute Respiratory, Chest Pain, Abdominal Pain, Cough, Strep, and Viral Infections. You will work closely with another ER nurse, paramedic or EMT, Radiology Tech, and Board Certified Physician. Westlawn, is a neighborhood facility, meaning our nurses will spend a quality amount of time offering bedside care.

Basic Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree, required; BSN, preferred
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse without sanctions, required
  • 2 years full-time RN experience in ER or other comparable experience, required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association, required; ENPC certification from ENA may be substituted for PALS certification; TNCC preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

  • Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
  • Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Nursing OR current home state license for multi-state license recognition "Compact State" obtained prior to hire date or job
    transfer date required.

Education:

  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of
    hire.
