Ascension Recovery Services is Hiring a Compliance Manager Near Morgantown, WV

Location: Morgantown, West Virginia

Position is hybrid and will be required to be on site several days a week.

Ascension Recovery Services is searching for a mission driven Compliance Manager to join our team.

The Compliance Manager implements and oversees the company regulatory compliance program and ensures compliance with all governing agencies, acts, guidelines and laws. The Manager works hand-in-hand with executive leadership to develop the steps and processes that will cultivate a culture of compliance (setting organizational standards, establishing guidelines and enforcing compliance protocols), and then takes the lead in conducting on-site compliance audits, training and education programs for all healthcare staff.

Accountabilities

  • Administer the organization’s compliance program and establish best practices to support compliance.
  • Develop and review facility and corporate policies and procedures to ensure that all practices are in compliance with applicable standards.
  • Evaluate and communicate relevant information from JC/CARF, QM/RM meetings, professional associations, literature, etc., to management, and provide any needed follow-up action or monitoring for compliance.
  • Facilitate and coordinate preparation of document review material and review all material for compliance with survey requirements. All are conducted within appropriate time frames.
  • Facilitate facility survey processes: serve as primary liaison with regulatory bodies; assure completion of survey application and forms within identified timeframes; develop survey agenda in coordination with lead surveyor; present PI overview information to surveyors; accompany surveyors during inspections; ensure survey process is targeted according to schedule; and respond to inquiries in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Facilitate efforts to identify and evaluate Joint Commission/CARF QA/PI requirements.
  • Develop and submit comprehensive annual PI planning documents and governing body reports (PI Annual Plan and Evaluation) in accordance with JC/CARF requirements.
  • Partnering with operations, revenue cycle and clinical departments to identify and monitor critical risk areas, planning for mitigating risks, and developing action plans I order to establish and reinforce a culture of compliance.
  • Develop and utilize data driven audit tools; including compliance KPI, protocols, etc., develop written reports to accurately reflect audit findings.
  • Maintain compliance recordkeeping technology; including reporting tools and policy software
  • Create and provide training to educate staff on compliance activities, accreditation standards, best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Research industry compliance regulations and keep abreast of regulatory changes and developments in the regulatory environment.
  • Lead the state licensing process which can include CON filings, licensing application completion and submittal, CLIA waiver completion and submittal and other required regulatory filings. 
  • Perform medical record reviews and compare services provided in the EMR and billing records to determine the accuracy of information and compliance with documentation standards.
  • Conduct unannounced facility inspections to ensure compliance with internal requirements and external regulations. Identify and communicate any safety or risk management concerns or opportunities for improvement to involved staff and committees for risk reduction and continued monitoring.
  • Serve as the Safety and Risk Manager in the areas of Risk Management/Claims Management, Occupational Safety, Fire and Life Safety and environmental Compliance as well as assessing patient and visitor incidents
  • Promote and adhere to the workplace values of kindness, teamwork, empathy, integrity, excellence and mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Healthcare Administration, Public Administration, or other related field required, Master’s degree strongly preferred
  • 7 years of experience in compliance role in healthcare environment required; behavioral health or substance use disorder experience strongly preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in data management and analysis, developing quality management plans, and writing policies and procedures required. Experience directing and/or overseeing a compliance program is strongly preferred.
  • 5 years of experience with Joint Commission/CARF standards is required; and the ability to collect, interpret, analyze, and present data, as well as interpret guidelines related to current Joint Commission/CARF standards is required.
  • In depth knowledge of State & Federal policy, procedures, rules, and regulations pertaining to Compliance and Quality Management
  • Sound interpersonal skills and communication, initiative, leadership, professionalism, decision-making, and managerial/business skills necessary for the role
  • Capacity to work effectively with facility and company leadership and staff to ensure the adequate provision and documentation of healthcare compliance activities is required.
