Job Summary:

Provides assistance and support to surgeons by preparing and providing instrumentation and equipment during surgery and/or procedures performed in the Operating Room.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Communicate effectively with patients, visitors and other health care providers.
• Ensure availability of supplies and equipment; process sterile instrumentation and equipment.
• Performs housekeeping duties as necessary.
• Utilize sterile technique while setting up and assisting physician.
• Assist in direct patient care when necessary.
• Participate in call schedule.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITIES:

• Knowledge and competency in OR technology and central service.

MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education – High school diploma or equivalent.
• Work Experience – One year in an OR or CS department preferred.
• Training – Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist/OR Technologist program preferred.
• License/Certification – BLS required within 6 months of hire; CST preferred.

ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work environment consists of daily patient contact, which may include exposure to blood, or other body fluids.
