Role and Responsibilities
We are looking for an electrical engineer who will help us advance our electrical products, systems, and applications. Daily, you’ll carry out various engineering tasks, such as performing calculations to ensure our systems meet the local codes and appropriate version of NEC national electrical code and collaborating with our prefab design team and to solve emerging issues. Ultimately, you will improve our company’s products and processes and contribute to its growth
Other essential job functions may include
· Developing electrical installation contract inquiries, utilizing drawings and specifications provided by design engineer.
· Responding to bidding contractors’ technical questions.
· Familiarity with and utilize department design and drafting standards and developing new standards
· Familiarity with project scope, specifications, and design criteria upon assignment to a project task team.
· Recognize and communicate scope and design changes promptly to the team.
· Provide technical guidance to less experienced drafting and engineering personnel in the department.
· Providing estimates for design build cost on new request for proposal of a design build.
· Producing detail design calculations and sketches for materials of construction associated with the project. Calculations produced will be neatly prepared and organized for
efficient checking by others and efficient use by drafters/designers for preparing drawings and as a deliverable when required.
· Developing conceptual layouts and cost studies as necessary to determine the simplest, most efficient approach to solving engineering tasks at hand.
· Producing estimate level preliminary designs and material take-offs suitable for the level of the estimate being performed on a project.
· Produce installation details, motor control center single lines, electric room layouts, motor control elementaries, connection diagrams, cable schedules, control panel layouts and grounding, lighting, power and instrumentation plans under general supervision.
· Producing designs with efficient use of construction materials with an overall emphasis on ease of construction and completed product meeting the expectations of the client.
· Checking calculations made by other designers to ensure accuracy, conformance to codes, specifications, design criteria and conformance to good engineering practice.
· Assisting the design group in resolving routine layout and detailing problems. It is your responsibility to furnish sufficient sketches and details necessary for completion of
engineering drawings.
· Consulting with design leaders from other disciplines to ensure the smooth flow of vital information necessary for the scheduled completion of the project.
· Reviewing prefabrication drawings and other construction submittals for conformance to engineering drawings and specifications.
· Performing fieldwork necessary to gather field data, check tie-ins and provide construction support.
· Knowledgeable of the discipline specific methods, practices and techniques required to engineer design and construct process and manufacturing projects.
· Designing fire alarm systems for design build and shop drawing. These would be used for permit submission.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
· BS in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited college or university required, master’s degree a plus
· 2-3 years relevant work experience, including internship or cooperative program experience
· Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) certification(s).
Preferred Skills
· Complete understanding of the skills and experience required to perform engineering and design functions.
· Knowledge of the standards that apply to instrumentation and controls (ISA).
· Ability to act as discipline engineer of record for projects that require professional engineering certification.
· Knowledge and application of company engineering design and CAD drafting standards.
· Ability to lead a small team to deliver on commitments.
· Working knowledge of CAD software, AutoCAD, Procore, Revit, adobe PDF
· Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
· Excellent presentation skills.

Work Environment
This job operates in an office setting but may require some traveling and site visits. Standard workweek is Monday – Friday, 40 hours a week and with overtime as needed. Must be available to work off-hours in case of emergencies and during holidays and weekends for shutdowns, if needed.
The office role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials; Requires repetitive movement; climbing ladders, scaffolds, or poles; standing, walking, and running; using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and bending or twisting. Maybe be necessary when in the field.
The office is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
