Description

Arora Engineers, Inc. is hiring a GIS Manager in Philadelphia, PA! This individual will be responsible for strategic planning and execution related to production and maintenance of geographic applications and supporting datasets to support numerous stakeholder groups. Working knowledge of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Geographic Information System (GIS) is highly desirable. Provides leadership and direction to onsite team members. This is an onsite position located at our client site in Philadelphia.

Essential Functions:

 Geospatial Proficiency

  • Provide project leadership and fosters a collaborative team environment.
  • Demonstrate strong technical and analytical skills in a geospatial environment.
  • Responsible for all internal and external project status reporting.
  • Interact with stakeholders to understand business requirements and the project team to determine project scope, budget estimates, schedule, and deliverables to ensure and timeliness of defined deliverables.
  • Ability to perform technical tasks using CAD or GIS software, especially as it relates to data translation.
  • Uses expertise to review and guide the development and deployment of mobile and desktop GIS solutions.
  • Participates and oversees the implementation of onsite and cloud-based GIS technical architecture in support of GIS application deployments.
  • Implements and manages ArcSDE and SQL databases in support of GIS application deployments.
  • Develops and manages scripts for data analysis and systems integration.
  • Develops ArcGIS tools to streamline and standardize existing workflows and GIS processes.
  • Configure Esri applications such as Operational Dashboard, Field Maps, Experience Builder, and others as applicable to deliver tools and methods of information dissemination to meet business objectives.
  • Reviews the adequacy and quality of GIS data and application code/configuration to support the deployment of GIS solutions, as well as providing recommendations for specific types of improvement.
  • Produces and maintains geographic data and graphics for airport-related GIS projects.
  • Develops GIS databases following GIS standards.
  • Participates in ongoing training and career development activities
  • Stays current with GIS software trends

Secondary Functions:

  • Supports opportunities to educate other staff members, who are not part of the GIS team, to learn about GIS abilities and possibilities.
  • Manage and coordinate GIS sub-consultant work.
  • Coordinating directly with GIS Director for individual team member performance and providing the appropriate feedback.
  • Performs related work as required.

Qualifications


Education/Experience Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in geography, urban planning, geographic information systems, or related field.
  • 7 years of CAD/GIS systems software, or related experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Experience with Safe Software, Feature Manipulation Engineer (FME), a plus.
  • GISP certification, a plus.
  • FAA IDLE Certification in Airport GIS, a plus.
  • Airport experience, a plus.

Needed Skills:

  • Experience with implementing onsite and cloud-based GIS technical architecture to support the deployment of GIS solutions.
  • Experience with GIS software systems specifically ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Desktop, and other ESRI extensions.
  • Experience developing custom scripts for GIS data management and analysis.
  • Experience customizing web maps and applications using ArcGIS Online for Organizations and/or Portal for ArcGIS.
  • Experience with HTML5 and/or JavaScript.
  • Knowledge of planning, design, maintenance and production of geographic data and graphics using GIS systems.
  • Solid foundation of knowledge with CAD datasets and the conversion process to GIS.
  • Experience managing spatial data concepts, projections systems, geo-databases, topology, and relational databases.
  • Ability to create high-quality graphic products.
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Desire to earn GISP certification, if applicable.
  • Possesses appropriate paperwork to demonstrate legal right to work in United States as a full-time, regular employee.
  • Ability to create and maintain productive relationships with employees, clients, and vendors.
  • Ability to meet worksite security requirements.

Additional Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of FAA's Airport Data and Information Portal (ADIP) program.
  • Experience building workbenches using Safe Software’s FME product.
  • Self-directed with an ability to organize and prioritize workload to align with strict timelines.
  • Ability to know and apply Information Technology performance measures and evaluation.
  • Experience administering Portal for ArcGIS/ArcGIS Online (i.e. installing upgrades, group roles, licensing, etc.).
