ARMADA NUTRITION, LLC is Hiring a PACKAGING ENGINEER Near Salt Lake City, UT

Description

The Packaging Engineer is responsible for managing the packaging development process and supporting ongoing manufacturing. Further, this role must work closely with all other Armada departments, including Production, Sanitation, Safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Warehousing, Researching and all other Admin Depts.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Partner with customers and cross-functional team to design, source and qualify packaging components, equipment, and operational processes & procedures. Lead new product packaging development (components, equipment, procedure, etc.);
  • Provide a proactive approach to product development, manage customer expectations and steer development direction to coincide with business needs;
  • Lead packaging line set ups for new products, write batch records, and optimize existing procedures;
  • Partner with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Scheduling to improve company’s OEE (Operations Equipment Efficiency) with a focus on the packaging department. Work with packaging department on-line efficiencies and opportunities for improvement;
  • Work with Maintenance and other departments on equipment needs and internal processes for the various packaging formats;
  • Manage all aspects of packaging component and equipment qualification program;
  • Support procurement and operations with identifying, and qualifying components, and equipment vendors, as well as third party contactors;
  • Provide technical assistance to internal and external customers, offer training, solutions, etc.;
  • Creates effective back-up plans and cross trains department personnel;
  • Follow established department SOP's, cGMP regulations, and batch record instructions;
  • Complies with all Company policies and procedures, including safety rules and regulations;
  • Maintains a safe work environment and operates in a safe manner;
  • Perform other related job duties related to the job.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S. in Package Engineering or related area); along with 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • A proactive independent worker able to manage multiple projects and personnel; 
  • Has strong analytical skills with demonstrated technical competence and initiative;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and drive deadlines;
  • Works effectively with people from varying functions and levels;
  • Excellent verbal, written, and oral communication;
  • Flexibility to travel approximately 25%;
  • Knowledge of database software; order processing systems; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software;
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.; 
  • Ability to stand for an extended periods of time;
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time;
  • Must be able to wear any required safety & PPE such as scrubs, hair net, lab coat, safety glasses, and mask;
  • Ability to work in a packaging area with a moderate powder substance in the air with or without a respirator;
  • Ability to work above shoulders;
  • Other physical requirements include frequent squatting, bending, twisting, and bi-lateral wrist movement;
  • Ability to work around a variety of different smells and aromas;
  • Subject to high noise levels where hearing protection may be required;
  • Work environment is partially in an office setting. Must be able to make frequent rounds in a warehouse environment;
  • Ability to adjust work schedule as business needs require.
