Description

General Responsibilities:

A Customs Brokerage Compliance Supervisor oversees the Customs Brokerage and Compliance activities to include, but not limited to classification of goods for HTS, research of product(s) to assist with such classifications and liaising with both internal and external customers. Assisting with the establishment, implementation, and maintenance of internal controls in the form of policies, procedures, and work instructions assuring that Aries fully complies with regulatory obligations pertaining to U.S. Import Trade Compliance. Analyzes controls through qualitative and quantitate evaluation of transactions for assurance of U.S. Importation Regulations.

Specific Job Duties:

  • Receive, review, and process import documentation from electronic or manual sources
  • Trace key transaction information such as House Bill of Lading, commercial invoice and other required documents to determine if record available
  • Monitor transactions and notify manager personnel of any problems or irregularities
  • Provide excellent and timely customer service on status of incoming shipment to customer
  • Manage deliveries to internal and external trucking companies
  • Audit invoicing of customers within 4 days after Delivery
  • Manage/Monitor daily electronic tasks and milestones of each shipment
  • Provide assistance with proper classification
  • Interface with CBP and other Federal Agencies, when need be
  • Coordinate and communicate customs release to carrier and the customer
  • Initiate/Pay electronic Daily Statement
  • Establish/maintain policies and procedures at the operational desk level including Customer SOPs
  • Ensure the department is meeting the needs or above the customers expectations.
  • Ensure new staff is trained on assigned duties and delegate training responsibility to other experienced staff.
  • Audit files to ensure correct invoicing and that Aries is in compliance with U.S. and foreign regulations.
  • Compute tariffs, price conversion, weight, and volume of merchandise exported or imported.
  • Develop operational procedures.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are being consistently followed. Updates staff of any procedure or policy change.
  • Plan, organize, schedule and lead audit activities of brokerage activities; requiring comprehensive and objective analysis of brokerage files; verification of completeness and file integrity.
  • Document audit findings and prepare reports with recommendations for mid-level and senior management. Continuous evaluation of electronic processes
  • Establish and/or update compliance policies that meet or exceed US Customs regulations that impact Aries
  • Remain up-to-date with the numerous rules and regulations promulgated by CBP.
  • Enforce compliance of administrative policies and procedures.
  • Maintain compliance visibility on all local and remote bonded warehousing transactions.
  • Provide compliance training to all employees involved in import and customs brokerage related activities.
  • Ensure brokerage activities are performed as required by U.S. Customs and other Partner Government Agencies.

Special Knowledge/Skills Required:

  • Must have 5yrs experience
  • Knowledgeable in export and import administration, Department of Commerce, U.S. Customs, consular requirements, and recordkeeping.
  • Ability to allocate work assignments and or tasks within the department.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and manage complex projects and set priorities.
  • Makes customers and their needs primary focus; developing and sustaining customer relationships.
  • Able to maintain stable performance under pressure or opposition.
  • Able to identify and understand problems and opportunities; compare data from different sources to draw conclusions.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently
