Ardelyx is Hiring a Chief Compliance Officer Near Waltham, MA

Ardelyx is a publicly-traded commercial biopharmaceutical company founded with a mission to discover, develop and commercialize innovative first-in-class medicines that meet significant unmet medical needs. Ardelyx’s first approved product for the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C) is available in the United States and Canada. Ardelyx is developing XPHOZAH® (tenapanor), a novel product candidate to control serum phosphorus in adult patients with CKD on dialysis, which has completed three successful Phase 3 trials.

Chief Compliance Officer (location flexible)

Job Overview:

The Chief Compliance Officer will be responsible for further developing and maintaining an effective US compliance program, serving as the primary individual responsible for ensuring employee adherence to the company’s Code of Conduct and related rules, policies, and procedures. The Chief Compliance Officer will report directly to the Chief Legal and Administrative Officer, and will report regularly to the Audit and Compliance Committee of the Board of Directors and to the senior leadership team on the effectiveness of the Company’s compliance programs and specific compliance matters.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with senior leadership to maintain and further develop throughout the organization a strong culture of ethics and compliance, including personal accountability at all levels in the organization
  • Further develop and maintain an effective Compliance Program, including implementing measures to prevent, detect and correct illegal, unethical, or improper conduct
  • Further develop and maintain appropriate policies to ensure compliance with applicable laws, including, specifically, healthcare, data privacy, anti-corruption/anti-bribery, antitrust/competition, anti-fraud, and regulatory authority guidance for biopharmaceutical companies
  • Oversee all training programs to ensure training is provided according to a defined schedule for all affected disciplines and functional areas
  • Educate the organization to ensure understanding of employee responsibilities and ethics and compliance issues, related policies and procedures
  • Establish and supervise a program for routine monitoring and auditing of compliance corporate policies and procedures; identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk and develop and implement corrective action plans as necessary
  • Develop and maintain strong and productive working relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally to maintain compliance awareness and effective compliance assurance processes
  • Investigate allegations of misconduct; conduct/coordinate investigations; communicate findings to senior leadership and the Compliance Committee as necessary

Qualifications and Experience:

  • J.D. with strong academic credentials from a nationally recognized law school
  • 7-10 years of experience in corporate compliance in a commercial pharmaceutical environment
  • 3-5 years of management experience
  • Direct experience working with corporate leadership
  • Demonstrated ability leading cross-cultural, cross-functional high-performance teams
  • Demonstrated strong track record of partnering with business management to provide guidance and implementation of effective compliance processes
  • Ability to lead Ardelyx’s compliance program strategically as the company grows and matures but also roll-up one’s sleeves to get the work done
  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and meet deadlines
  • Strong listening and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented
