Production Engineer – Monroe Ohio Nutrition Plant-Erlanger, KYThis is a full-time, exempt level position.
Job Summary:The production engineer will assist with management of capital projects to improve the operation of the Monroe Facility. This role will coordinate the design and implementation of process projects for operations. This includes identifying, and evaluating project opportunities, requesting authorization for the project; as well as crafting, installing, and commissioning approved projects. This role will require working with both ADM management, operations, maintenance personnel and 3rd party contractors to complete routine and project related work. This role will also have the opportunity to utilize engineering skills to improve the day-to-day operations through troubleshooting, operability, and process improvement.
Essential Job Functions:The Production Engineer role will be comprised of several areas related to project management and plant processes to include:
Proactively support the safety, environmental, food safety, and quality programs in the facility. Maintain ADM and plant standards with all ADM employees, contractors, and visitors.
Project management will ensure efficient implementation of projects from inception to commissioning. This will include developing project scope, equipment sizing, detailing PI&D’s, and other front end engineering tasks. Requesting authorization of projects once the scope is developed. Coordinating completion of the project with operations, maintenance, and 3rd party contractors while minimizing impact to operations.
Recommendations for improvements to processes, facilities, equipment, and safety programs.
Assist product development team in scale up and transfer of new products to the production floor. This may include direct involvement in planning and observation of new process startups.
Assist in daily operations. This includes troubleshooting processes, equipment and automation issues in operations. Supporting maintenance activities to minimize process disruptions.
Opportunity to learn in area EH&S by supporting EH&S coordinator in site activities and small projects.
Requirements:Bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering or related field with experience.
Strong Dedication to Safety.
Demonstrated problem solving skills.
Good written and verbal commutation skills.
Ability to work closely with site departments.
Knowledge of a variety of process unit operations including distillation, reaction, and filtration.
Ability to look beyond the task at hand, to anticipate challenges and develop options to overcome them.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:The scope of the position requires time spent on the production floor where chemical operations are ongoing. Temperatures in some area will be hot during the summer, and cold in the winter.
Requires a full range of physical motion in order to move throughout the facility, including climbing stairs, using ladders, kneeling, bending, and the ability to work at heights.
Ability to wear a respirator when required
Able to lift and transport materials and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds on a frequent basis, up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis. Employees are encouraged to request assistance in lifting or carrying objects that weigh more than 50 pounds.
Ability to walk / stand for 1-3 hours.
