ArchCare is Hiring a Maintenance Mechanic Near Rhinebeck, NY

Overview

With a focus on quality customer service, the maintenance mechanic will be a team player with a willingness to help others. Must be proactive and take the initiative to address issues before they become major. Must be dependable and responsible with the ability to utilize his/her expertise to comfortably work independently, with little supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overall plant operation on assigned shift. This includes:
  • Daily plant readings and log reporting to Director of Support Services. Inspects all equipment operations daily, making adjustments or repairs where necessary.
  • Immediately reports any malfunctioning of major equipment to Director of Support Services.
  • Performs inspection of all plant equipment including, boiler, fire and water sides, pumps, heating units.
  • Sets air/fuel mechanical linkage on boiler. Clean and repair of boilers, Chemical testing of boiling water treatment.
  • Maintains gas, air, water and waste water system through regular monitoring throughout shift.
  • Assists Maintenance Supervisor with HVAC systems, takes readings on systems as necessary.
  • Snake out sewer lines. Check operation of sewer plant on daily basis.
  • Assists Maintenance Supervisor with the installation of new equipment.
  • Perform PM's.
  • Maintains and repairs exterior of the building including lawns, parking lots, sidewalks and build structures. Assists with grounds keeping (snow removal, lawn maintenance) when necessary.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and maintains a record of work accomplished on engineering maintenance equipment. In addition, records activities and maintains log of work done on engineering maintenance equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and cleaning of all medical equipment including beds or wheelchairs as scheduled.
  • Selects proper tools and materials for each job assignment. Maintains tools and equipment in proper and safe operating condition.
  • Follow duties assigned in Fire Safety Class. Conducts Fire Extinguisher and Fire Hose In-service Classes.
  • Maintains oxygen system: deliver oxygen refills and new set-ups to residents' rooms.
  • Out trips when necessary including, pick up prescriptions at pharmacy, pick up supplies, etc.
  • Sheetrock, taping and painting of walls. Tile work and grouting of walls and floors wallpapering.
  • Performs all carpentry work to be done, doors, frames, hinges, locks, window repairs, making of shelves, cabinets, etc.
  • Maintains all facility equipment, including laundry equipment: washer, dryers, kitchen equipment: ovens, stoves, dishwasher, etc. Periodically steam clean kitchen area.
  • Maintain all plumbing, toilets, sinks, water fountains, etc.
  • Maintain and repair all electrical systems such as; Light ballasts, bulbs, switches, receptacles and other appliances such as air conditioners.
  • Engrave room identifier signs, make keys, etc.
  • Working with hazardous chemicals and asbestos, observes of HAZCOM PROGRAM.
  • Attends staff development programs including mandatory education subjects.
  • In the spirit of cooperation and in response to resident needs, it may be necessary to perform other related duties as requested and unrelated duties in case of emergency.
  • Rotating weekend duty every 4th to 5th weekend. Must also be able to respond to off hour call outs.

Qualifications

Education RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalency, plus vocational training or experience in oil burners, refrigeration, plumbing, heating, air conditioning or mechanical equipment.

Experience RequirementsAt minimum, five years experience in mechanical maintenance operation.

License RequirementsValid New York State Driver’s License.
