Tool & Die Specialist Job Description
Overall Responsibility:
Manage all tooling programs to ensure that all facets of tooling launches meet AMTB and customer specifications.
Key Accountabilities:
• Act as liaison between ArcelorMittal and vendor.
• Proficient with 2D and 3D cad software such as AutoCad and Solidworks to develop the most efficient method of processing customers products
• Assist the Program Managers in launching the tooling needs of new programs
• Assist the Engineering Departments with troubleshooting and providing technical advice on die issues
• Work with blanking suppliers to maintain and repair existing Tools.
• Ensure locations are maintaining existing dies, fixtures, gauges, and assorted tools.
• Assist locations to maintain spare parts for existing tools currently used in production
• Develop, evaluate, and improve existing dies, gauges, and assorted tools through continuous improvement practices
• Examine standard or previously used dies, tools, and jibs and fixtures and recommend design modifications regarding construction and function of part. Coordinate design standards with AMTB Europe to ensure global coordination of dies.
• Other Duties as assigned
Technical Skills and Knowledge:
• MS Office Microsoft Project Working Knowledge
• Personal Skills Advanced problem solving and analytical skills required
• Advanced organizational and planning skills
• Strong technical aptitude with 5 years experience working with dies and tooling
• Detail orientation Intermediary working knowledge of FMEA's is required
• Advanced knowledge of personal computer, standard corporate software, and applicable systems skills are required (Microsoft Office / AutoCAD). Knowledge of blank nesting software is an asset.
